I'm picking up my new 2021 Ranger Lariat Saturday and looking forward to it. I'm trading in my 2016 F150 King Ranch with 12,300 miles on it, so I'm obviously downsizing. I know it's a huge step down from all the bells & whistles my KR had, but I hardly used half of the features anyway. I've done my research and the Ranger will easily handle all my needs.

I'm going to pick up a few extras (Revolver X4S bed cover for one) but really need a brake controller right away. I'm thinking of getting the Prodigy RF wireless brake controller and would like any input on this model controller if anyone can help.

Hi Steve, I don’t know a darn thing about brake controllers but a lot of other folks on here do. Still, I wanted to say welcome to ranger5g and that I hope you enjoy your new Ranger.

Welcome Steve, show that truck when you get it.

Yes many are using the Ford branded brake controller kit as it is yhe only kit that ties the controller into the Automatic Emergency Braking system and works with the Adaptive Cruise Control. It's very unobtrusive with only a small lighted knob/button on the dash. It is basically a Redarc controller with an additional module to tie in the emergency braking system. I am using just the Redarc controller without the extra module as Ford dod not have its kit available when I bought my truck. They both work equally well and there a multiple threads an the install for each.
