Looks awesome. The topper was a game changer for me.

The power outlets look nice.
Thanks, I’m pretty happy with it. Now I have room to buy more tools. ?

The box you see are the switches for the lights, and a USB charge port. I still have to wire everything up.

“Did they wire up all the lights? What are interior lights like? What are your plans for the accessory mounts on the sides? Lead time? How long to install? Fit and finish? Etc., etc.

@DukeCanBuildit

1. No, they don’t do wiring for insurance reasons.
2. Haven’t wired up the lights yet, but the interior has two bars on ceiling cap.
3. I don’t have too many plans for the accessory mounts yet. Probably some tools on the inside… levels, laser case, stair guage etc.
4. Tufcap had the cap in stock, so I ordered it and then had the install done the next week. Took about an hour.
5. Fit is great. The finish is great, too. The hinges are really beefy, the gas charged struts very strong, the handles are machined aluminum. Overall pretty tough feeling. 885 lb weight limit on roof.

I’ll post some close-up shots later on some of the details.

That looks like a serious cap. I like it, but not something I would want. I like the ease of undoing a couple of wing nuts, my whole tonneau comes off and have a completely empty bed to do whatever, like load it up with firewood etc.
When I had my rear window replaced, I tried to make it as easy as possible for them to have unhindered access, so I spent 3 minutes and took the tonneau off.

I want one too. ?
Yeah, I found their website, and have been going through it; was just wondering which of the options he went for. Looks to me like the Premium Overland.

Overall, I like it, but I'm wondering if the way it comes up a bit short on the tailgate wouldn't bug my OCD in the long run, or if I'd just get used to it. It does seem to offer something very similar to the RSI SmartCap for about half the price.

I agree, it looks like he chose the top tier model. It might even be better appointed than the RSI - lighting, mounting boards, etc. I’m sure Shane can take some pics of how it interfaces with the tailgate. My ARE has a special “sill” at the bottom of the rear window to deal with the curve in the tailgate trim cap. Maybe it has something similar.

My SmartCap is the same way. I think its due to the lip on the tailgate, as it angles up and wouldn't allow a seal at the end of the bed.

Which cap did you get?
The brand is Tufcap, out of Toronto. They are just starting out, so they are selling about $1K less than any other option I found. For example, a Lear is about $4500 Can., a Smartcap is $6400 Can. This was $3500. Prices are going up in the new year; they plan on reaching a competitive price for retail, then selling wholesale to dealers.

I agree with you, those are good reasons. This cap weighs 160 lbs, so 6 clamps and two people to lift it off, but I doubt I will. For me, the added height compared to a tonneau cover will make a world of difference for loading tools. I actually prefer the look of the truck with a tonneau cover, too.

Yes, that’s why. There is a weather seal there, and a lip that extends below the tailgate so it doesn’t need locks to secure the back.

Yes, on all accounts. The bottom of the window has a weather seal and lip to lock the back door. I’ll get some more pics in the daylight tomorrow

I spoke at great length with one of the founders, and he said they started in the US, and have only been in Canada since March. I’ve been wondering what brand they started in the US.
