Turn out gear representing every single firefighter lost on 9/11. :crying:

This is a very moving photo and based on the perceived age of the photo I'm willing to bet it doesn't account for the hundreds of first responders that have passed in these last 24 years due to exposure to environmental hazards at ground zero.

RIP to those mortal heroes and all those lost - never forget.

If you ever get to NYC, go to the 9/11 museum. Incredibly moving. - I couldn't make it through the whole thing. Tapped out at halfway through 2nd tower. The numbers are hard to process.

Ya'll remember that Duke mentioned small town America in a reply to one of my posts from yesterday. Sam Rayburn is K through 12th grade all in the same complex. I was in 1st period English when the high school History teacher came in and told us that a plane flew into the World Trade Center tower. Everything stopped, and the entire school was glued to the TV watching what was happening in NYC.
RIP everyone that lost their lives on that day. This was our generations Pearl Harbor.

It’s hard to believe it was 24 years ago today that one of the worst tragedies on our soil took place. Please take a moment to stop and remember all those whose lost their lives and for those whose lives changed drastically that day and for those real heroes who ran into harms way while others were running away. I know everyone remembers exactly where they were that day they heard the news that the towers had fallen and that feeling of emptiness, anger and frustration you felt afterwards. We as a country came together and helped out those in need and for a long time everyone was very patriotic and the world seemed more civil and people more polite. How fast we forgot and we’re now so divided as a nation, I hope it doesn’t take another 9/11 to reunite people. Today let’s pray for those who lost their lives and remember it’s not about who’s red or blue but that we’re all brothers and sisters and to act civil towards one another. 🙏

I remember 9/11 like it was yesterday - it truly was the Pearl Harbor of our times.
And although the number of losses was much greater, yesterday's events will also have a major impact on America. For the good I hope.

I'm honestly tired of all the "blame game" and the "us vs them" mentality that has infected every corner of our country. I truly think most politicians use the "us vs them" to keep people riled up and to keep them giving money - it is horribly bad for our republic, IMO. People need to stop identifying as democrat or republican and start identifying as Americans again.

I unapologetically identify as a Christian American Conservative. Even more now than 2 days ago.

Amen to that! But as I've said for years social media is and will be the death of this country! Neither of us are on any platforms and this forum is the closest I'll ever come to being on one. To much toxicity on them and it's down right disgusting some of the comments I've seen just on Yahoo News. Reddit has always been vile but I heard (from a friend) some of the comments they were posting on there right after Charlie was killed.

I really hope this wakes more people up to what's really going on and who's been responsible and inciting this kind of violence and I'll wait and hold my breath patiently. Sadly I feel this country will always be divided (we're to far gone now) and the best we can do is live our lives with the morals and respect we were brought up with.

Dave, well said. That is my favorite thing about this forum. Non-political. That and the fact I fit in here, because always have been and still am a loaner. Most people on the other forums wouldn't understand my outside the box and sometimes backwards way of thinking. Most of you guys get it and to quote Freiburger. "I declare that good enough!" Lol😁

Agree with all your comments on social media and most of all, your last one about our parents.

I was recently thanked by my 40 year old son for being strict and teaching him to think for himself and make his own decisions based on all the facts, hard to find these days. The best thing we can teach are kids is to read well and be discerning about what they read, hear and see.
