It’s hard to believe it was 24 years ago today that one of the worst tragedies on our soil took place. Please take a moment to stop and remember all those whose lost their lives and for those whose lives changed drastically that day and for those real heroes who ran into harms way while others were running away. I know everyone remembers exactly where they were that day they heard the news that the towers had fallen and that feeling of emptiness, anger and frustration you felt afterwards. We as a country came together and helped out those in need and for a long time everyone was very patriotic and the world seemed more civil and people more polite. How fast we forgot and we’re now so divided as a nation, I hope it doesn’t take another 9/11 to reunite people. Today let’s pray for those who lost their lives and remember it’s not about who’s red or blue but that we’re all brothers and sisters and to act civil towards one another. 🙏

I get the feeling the events of yesterday will unite people and inspire a movement.

Scorp, this is a day that I will not ever forget. I was a Junior in high school at Sam Rayburn I.S.D. when all of this happened.
To everyone lost in the towers.

There's a nice 9/11 tribute (Remembrance Garden) in Winslow, AZ that we saw there a few years ago. It's small and on the outskirts of the town but well worth seeing if you're ever in the area. Makes it very surreal!

Clay, I think everyone remembers where they were that day and thinks back on it when the anniversary comes. I had got up early and power washed a house and just got home when the first plane hit. I was glued to the tv all day and sat in awe when the first tower collapsed. It was nice to see the whole country come together but sad it took a tragedy like this for it to happen.

It was a very sad day - Indeed, being in aviation and with the airlines, I was was affected by 9/11 and the downturn with layoffs - no where near the families loss of loved ones.
It changed aviation and the world forever

I was in the break room as we got word not long after the 1st Tower and just happened to see the 2nd Tower (Live) - It was then a reality this was no accident and I cannot remember exactly how long (time passed) we had a (All Hands On Deck) call to help park aircraft as a order came to get them on the ground (ASAP) - It suddenly became a very busy day and the taxiways filled up with parked aircraft

I will -Never Forget

I posted this a few years ago but it shows the key part the Ranger played in the 9/11 aftermath.

I was to fly to Germany for the Indy Car race on 9/11/2001 as I was a
trackside Indy Car Official. This was when the grave terrorist attack
happened, and all flights were grounded. Shocked beyond belief. Little
did I know as the head of Ranger Pickup Truck engineering, that the
newly created FX4 Ranger would play a critical roll in the aftermath. I
returned to work as my flights to Germany were cancelled. Sitting in my
office, my secretary told me that someone from World Headquarters was on
the line. Ford was going to pull out the stops to help in the aftermath.
I had 20 Ranger FX4 prototypes that were from the pilot program for the
FX4.....We sent these 20 Rangers to the Port Authority of New York and
New Jersey. All the Port Authority vehicles were destroyed in the World
Trade Center Collapse. These Rangers served for some two months on duty
with the Port Authority, and up on return, one was proudly displayed at
Ford World Headquarters for about a month. So the FX4 has a heritage
associated with 9/11.

I will also never forget looking up to empty skies, no contrails for days.
