Hi everyone,

Great forum with a great bunch of people. I've been lurking for awhile now and have learned alot.

I recently found a dealer ordered Tremor Lariat that is almost perfect. I went down and test drove another just to see if it fit (it did), and so have been waiting on the order to go to transit. I just got the call that it will likely be ready for pickup Mar 1st.

So this is way ahead of my timeline. I didn't have time to do the x-plan thing. The sticker is 47,300, and the dealer says it'll probably be another 12% above that for their dealer stuff (window tint, bedliner, nitrogen in tires, paint protection, etc).

Is there anything I should know going into this so I don't get taken? I have good credit, but I also don't want to pay $1000 for the truck (I would if I could!). I'm trusting to a fault, just don't want to get burned.

Any advice is appreciated. Hopefully I'll be posting a pic sometime.

Thanks ahead of time!

Just my opinion but anything the dealer adds has a significant markup usually. Personally I avoid anything that wasn’t part of the factory build. Same goes for extended warranties, go outside the dealership for them and save big. I think there is only one incentive ongoing right now. Like a 1K discount. Others on here can add to that thought. I would definitely try to get the X plan or some other type to get that price down. Depending on options on a Lariat you should be OTD 40 to 42K

Insist on no dealer add ons.

Should be easy since it's in transit. That's $5700 worth of worthless shit.

Also, don't fall for the extended warranty shit at the dealership. If you must have one, buy from Flood Ford.

If they won't at least come down on those adds, don't be afraid to walk. Seems like you might do better moving to a dealer with no adds, ordering, and getting X-Plan anyways. I'm assuming you're trying to get it through the Mustang Club? X-Plan isn't a huge savings, but it's about all you can hope for right now as far as discounts go.

FYI, to anyone wondering, to get a rough idea of X-Plan pricing go on KBB and do their build and price. Once complete, it'll give you both invoice and MSRP including destination. Take the invoice number and add 0.4%. It's a rough estimate, but fairly close.

I hate the dealer add on's. If ordering I would think you could just say no. I bought an in stock truck that had a few rebates on it. I got like 7K off so I didn't b!tch too much about the $399 drop in bed liner. I might rip it out an do a spray in liner. That paint protectant film is crazy expensive.

If they won't agree to drop it all, an you don't want to wait for another truck I guess you have to get the best price on it you can. 10-12 percent sounds crazy expensive.

When I placed my order, the dealer was offering below invoice price so I know what I'm paying before hand. Plus any custom orders get an additional $1k off, Ford Incentive. Depending what Ford Incentives are being offered in April, I'll pick whatever is better. May just stick to the additional $1k off but we shall see.

Don't get the extra dealer crap they are offering and extended warranty is cheaper outside the dealer. So wait on that as well.

Best of luck and congrats!

that 12% lingo is complete bull...

And is the nitrogen air in tires still being pushed?! People! the air we breathe already is 78% nitrogen!

Rough averages=

bedliner- 750
tint-250
paint protection-500
Nitrgoen in tires- BS
=1,500$

=12% of 47,300=5,676$

That dealer is trying to get a free 4k(roughly)

Pass on all of those things, especially for that cost (unless you want/need to finance it). Almost all can be purchased less expensively from other sources and are always as good or better quality.

Seek and you will find grasshopper - don't be afraid to walk. It's not a Ferrari 250GTO, there will be another one and others of said - avoid the dealer hacks.

I doubt your going to get a Lariat Tremor for 40-42 k OTD.

I agree on dealer extras pass on that crap

These dealers have a license to steal money from you, they are no better than politicians.
Only if you let them. Good job calling them out.
caveat emptor - let the buyer beware. Trust no one but yourself when making a large purchase or dealing with the internet.
A buyer that does their research is usually not a victim.
? Why did I just think of my dad while typing that...

Thanks for all of your input everybody.

I talked to the dealer, and he was very nice about everything. Seems there are two other buyers interested and they said they'd be marking up the price when it hit the lot without a deal in place. Didn't budge on much but went down to about 9% on the addons. I asked him about being in transit still and time to NOT put in some of the addon packages (KAHU, etc). They stood firm. I guess they're not desperate enough. I could walk away, but I really don't want to wait half a year or more for another truck. I'm hoping they can throw in some oil changes.

It's only money, right? I'm just picturing all the fun things we'll do with the new Tremor.

Thanks for the advice!!

It's their market, especially if you're not wanting to wait. I totally understand. If you wind up getting it, I hope you enjoy it and I'll be mildly envious!
