Is there not a knock out cap in center of the rear bumper for a hitch ball ? There should also be slotted tabs for the safety chains underneath. It is there on my Lariat even though I have the trailer package
As far as I know, the tow rating on the bumper is only 3,500 lbs. You can install a Class III hitch for up to 7,500 lbs. towing. I don't think I'd be comfortable putting a 6 x 12 loaded with all your stuff on the bumper. But would have no problem on a 2" receiver.

I'm actually in the process of adding a hitch to mine and found a Class III Draw-Tite hitch on Amazon for $125. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WSYKMPJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I haven't decided whether or not to do the brake controller on mine. It already has the 4-pin connector and a 7-way seems unnecessary for the things I plan to tow. (motorcycle trailer, small enclosed trailer) I figure I can worry about that when I need to.

Regarding the suggestion about Pods- If you aren't comfortable towing, absolutely check that out. I used Pods the last time I moved and It was a good experience. (there are a couple of different brands, so price-compare. I think the "PODS" brand was more, but I used a different one)

I towed using that same exactly u-haul (6x12) about a month ago with 0 issues. Couldn't tell it was there. I will say, it was not loaded to the max (we just lazily stuffed it and made 3 trips) and only went about 50 miles total. But I was surprised at how effortless it was to pull and slow down. Keep in mind that what most people don't understand is that when it comes to towing vehicles are rated at their ability to stop a trailer not pull it. I'm sure a Honda civic could move a 10,000 boat from point A to B but that boat is going to push the Honda right through the first red light lol. In the trailer keep most of your weight to the front and over the axles.

Decades ago a roommate use to tow his 28’ sailboat with a Mercury bobcat! Yup, I thought he was nuts back then too! But it is doable

ive done similiar moves before, and to be honest, i only took the essentials in the bed of the truck, sold the rest and got newer stuff at the other end.
i hate moving too
Good idea here Steven. Sell as much as you can, and buy new when you get to Utah.

I was thinking about the same while reading Steven's post RP. I've told the wife if she ever wants to move again to get ready for a big ass yard sell. I ain't taking none of this crap with us.

I have 5 acres, a 500 sf barn, 1200sf shop, a 2400sf main home and a 1800sf mobile home on my property, all filled with stuff. Some of it is complete crap, while the rest is usable stuff like my tools, business parts and equipment, vehicles, several nice trailers, etc.

I am dreading ever moving.........I told my wife never again, but I'm sure its only a matter of time.......?

Groo here
Is it just you?
Have a friend [ or "other"] drive the Ranger and rent the smallest truck you can...
A bus, train,or airline ticket is cheeper than the hitch [and other stuff].
Or take the u- hal out and see about taking the the u hall back.
So many are leaving the "Sun Don't Shine" state that u hall needs the trucks back soonest and may pay your gas [no rental] to get it!!
Then take the ranger [with the "stuff" you forgot or want to watch over]
