I have a herd of kids and a minivan shares the driveway with my Ranger.
Confession - I do have a minivan also, but I wanted to be able to travel freely with family in either vehicle. We like vacations in the mountains, and it’s nice to have a more trusty vehicle for those adventures. Also, when my son’s car seat turns to forward facing in the near future, the front passenger seat of the Ranger was going to become unusable.

I genuinely enjoy my big Kia when it's time to move all the kids. If I'm just taking one or two I take my Ranger.

For sure. I wasn't being facetious at all. If I had more than two kids I would have had one in a heartbeat.

Mine are almost grown. Eyeballing a two seater for the old lady next.

I talked to my wife about that, she said you better make it big enough to put a bed in there!!!
Isn't that why you're tearing out the walls? So the bigger bed will fit in the garage?

nice. trucks > minivans, but a minivan will do in a pinch. Hope the new ride treats you good, Chev does make nice looking trucks.

Should've just got a minivan.
I drove a minivan in my late 20's early 30's when I was single. Because I was going to a lot of music festivals and this way I was in control because I drove. It's nice to leave when you want to.

I was also living in a 4 bedrooms house. Can't tell you how many dates I would have to show my closet didn't have any women's clothes in it.

Had a D.A.R.E sticker, a soccer ball, and a "My kid is an A Student at Winthrop Elementary" on the back.

We called it urban camoflage. I never once got pulled over in it.

Well that's one way to do it.

I drove some F-150s too, but honestly Ford is just charging more for equivalent features. I also love the look of the new Silverado.
no chevy is charging less for less features.

You really can't do a full feature match anymore as chevy cuts more features than ford has.

however moving up to 3 kids does require more room. I have 2 car seats in the back of my ranger since day one. I might have car seats longer than I own the ranger for.

I compared both at dealers, and if I bought an F150 and Silverado at the same price, I was going to get a lot less features with Ford. Basic stuff like a power driver seat, push button start, remote start, and then even more advanced stuff too like wireless Apple CarPlay.

Ford does get better mpg in the more powerful engine sizes.

I was also very disappointed F150 doesn’t have rear ac vents with the front bench seat. GM has it - important for my kids in back too. This should be a no brainer for Ford to change.

I’ve owned 5 different Ford vehicles over the last 20 years and would have bought a Ford if it wasn’t going to feel like a downgrade in the F150 from my lariat ranger for my budget.

We help people sell their Rangers in the easiest way possible.
Thanks to everyone for making the forum great.

I love my Ranger, and it’s been a blast, but it just wasn’t the right fit for my family size - currently 3 young kids with boosters and car seats. I had made it work but decided to move up to something larger.

This was my first truck, and I did test drive full-size trucks too back when buying the Ranger, but it just seemed like too much at the time. The Ranger is a great truck, but it’s tight for a family greater than 4.

The painful part of this change will be the gas mileage!

Very brave to announce the switch to a Silverado on a Ford forum. As the sponsor of a Ford forum, we can't "officially" endorse your switch, but that blue Z71 does look nice in your driveway.
