As the OP stated about the XL trim.

I don't think the OP can do a master reset because he doesn't have the same buttons as the little Sync does. I could not get to a master reset via the steering wheel controls, only by pushing in my radio knob to turn it on, then clicking the little cogs button that I have, and then navigating with the Up and Down buttons.

UPDATE:

Called the Ford Customer Relationship Center and after only being on hold for almost 30 minutes I spoke with a nice guy who let me know that because I had initially started an automatic update yesterday but didn't let it finish (was taking way too long) and then I drove off this morning, disconnecting the truck from my home WIFI, my Sync3 system got stuck in between updates. So this is what that looks like. He recommended the manual USB update method. He also said something interesting in that he mentioned anything larger than a 32 GB thumb drive can cause issues with the updating process. He recommended anything above an 8 GB and below a 32 GB.

This seems odd (and scary) but maybe @airline tech will know:

Ford Mechanic: Kenny Z.
Neilsen, thanks for waiting. If you want to perform a hard reset then you will need to disconnect both battery cables and touch them together for 10 seconds. This will discharge the memory capacitors and should reset the system. If this does not work then the operating software has become corrupted and will need to be wiped and reinstalled with a dealer level scan tool. Sorry for your car troubles today. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Oh boy, that's great news! I always do the USB but only because it never was able to connect to Wi-Fi.

I use a 64 GB but I also have the lower Sync. Under $10 and on my keyring only for Ford Updates.

What do you have the keys to every dump within 100 miles of you?
Yeah, I couldn't deal with that. I just have my house key. All hitch, bike rack etc. keys I keep in the truck.

That's all I have too and once I get the house built I wont even have that. I'm putting a keypad on the garage and usually hide a key somewhere outside if that fails or the power is out. Heck, I can't even stand those darn rewards key cards that all the grocery stores have now. I just use my phone number or my Apple Wallet when checking out. Now if I could just find a way to shrink this darn boat anchor of a key fob I'd be happy. lol âš“

Get one of the Chamberlain garage openers with battery back up. I thought they were overrated until the first time I was able to use the door without electric.

OMG, all those people still running around with multiple loyalty, rewards fobs on their keychain. Just stupid! Just get the app or enter your damn phone number.

I'm so disappointed with my fellow forum members ... =(

No, not in key shaming - by the size of my keyring, you can see that I don't have any deficiencies in that area. =p

But in the assumption that the pic was of my entire keychain. C'mon, this is the guy with more SwingCase content than payload! And the 320-pound water-filled winter traction bladder, and the ever-enviable chin chain. =D

Maybe we should start a new thread "Show us your keychain" (that's me, always thinkin'). =D

Okay, school's in, sit down, and learn:

all here except the snowblower

usually only use the Ford key which also has the SwingCase key and hitch pin key. hmm, I have another there that needs to be moved. oh, and a red Chipolo
image.jpg

The top, with the white Chipolo, are house and lock keys, and then Kate's spare Mazda key.

I rarely carry more than the Ford key since I only drive the truck in and out of the driveway, and sometimes live the dream with a dump run.

Details of the middle group:

an old Spiderco knife (30 years old)

a monogrammed gift from Kate =)

Gotta have a coin to solve disputes, this was my dad's and is at least 60 years old, might even go further back to his service in the Navy. But open at your own risk and be at least 18 (chronologically, not mentally).

That's right and my keychain hasn't changed much in over two years (man, time flies when you're spending every bit of your paycheck on stuff suggested on this forum ... and Graphene!). =)

July 2022 and look how clean that BedRug was! It took a beating when I slid that sheetrock in and then back out!

Note, I did remove the mini Leatherman, you know, sometimes too much is too much!
