I have the speed limit displayed on my 2019 XLT dash. Works good and you can set the point where it starts flashing over the limit. Only quirk is on MY 2019s it displays the speed as a round European sign. On later years it displays a square NA sign.
Do you have the nav option? If not, i want to enable it on my 2020 XLT (I don't have the navigation option)

I am beginning to prefer Waze to Google Maps. Neither shows elevation, but I was able to get the compass and speed zone to show on Waze. It seems to display speed zone in places where my GPS would not.
Ok, so back to square one on the Waze compass. It only shows on the phone app. I sure hope the new battery fixes the Garmin. I like elevation it shows and the compass of Google Maps. Why can't everything I want be in one app?

Because that would be way too easy and that's not allowed

My wife's '21 Edge SEL has a ginormous screen, connects to her phone without a cord, and the maps shows speed zones. Heck, I wonder if I dig around in the options if it would show elevation.

Did you turn it on in Forscan? If not where do you see the speed limit sign?

Yes, it is turned on in Forscan. Been so long would need to dig up the changes.

Don't have a good picture of it, but it you see what looks like parenthesis at the top of the center screen. It shows up as a white circle with a red border, the speed in it just to the left of the cruise symbol.

So only a few days after I started using Waze, Google Maps seems to have disappeared. Did they merge? I did get a message on Waze saying I could now use Google voice prompts.

I changed the battery in my old Garmin NUVI 52 (no dash cam) and it was a delicate process because they design them to be difficult to change so you will be encouraged to but a new device (planned obsolescence). I used it until it died again and then upgraded to their Drive 52 which I still use.

I think it was about 15 years, so I am not complaining at all. It's been pretty solid.
I've got two Garmin GPS units from the same era. Still getting annual updates! One had a dim screen that would brighten up given a few minutes. Turns out to be a weak battery. Replaced both batteries. Both units still going strong.

What I found interesting is that both were purchased new, same model - Nuvi 2597LMT, and both had slightly different Garmin labeled batteries in them.

Battery #1 3.7v 930mAh 3.4Wh
Battery #2 3.7v 940mAh 3.5Wh

The replacement batteries were 1200mAh

I also could not find the Garmin USB charging cable. I did have the 12v plug cable for the lighter socket, but I didn't want to charge them from the truck battery.

Ordered a set of USB cables from Amazon that claimed to work with the Garmin, but would not charge the battery. Promptly sent them back, and ordered another 2 cables that claimed to both charge the battery and work with the traffic feature (it had the antenna). The 2nd pair worked like the original cable.

I may look at getting a new cable, because every once in a while I have to wiggle the connection on the back and it works. But I do believe the new battery I put in is definitely helping.
Yes, it is old, but still getting free updates. Garmin made a great change when they stopped charging for updates.

Update, the Garmin is heading to a landfill. It got so bad it would not stay on and would just continuously cycle on and off. I gave up and bought a new cam that is front and rear. I am actually kind of glad since the features are much improved over the aging Garmin. And the with the flawless function of Waze, I no longer need the GPS of the Garmin. I will still miss the elevation display though.
Cheers!

Depending on the new dash cam you have, it might integrate with a GPS of your choice. I know Garmin has been doing such lately, but unfortunately it doesn't work with the Tread Platform
