Hey everybody,

Glad you're starting to get these delivered and thanks @Tim G. for the review and photos!

The pre-sale just closed this morning, but if you didn't get your order in yet, just let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks again everybody!

I think the biggest selling point on this unit is drivability. I've put almost 2k miles on this so far and it just seems to make this truck feel healthier. Feels less taxed going through the gears. Smoother power delivery, longer maintenance intervals, and better compatibility if you decide down the line to pair it up with a tune and downpipe. Thats why I purchased mine. And the quality that mishimoto gives you for the price point is unbeatable with all of the current offerings on the market. Roush gives you the same performance as a drop in filter for $400.

Installed a couple of hours ago. I'm inclined to agree about the driveability. It always seemed to stumble a bit on the light foot, 1-3 shifts. Not so now. Additionally, if you are running an after market diverter/blow off and AFE charge pipes, you will have to remove it to get the angle required to get the filter in to the air box without damage.

Wow, only have about 200 miles on it and I can def tell a difference in the shifting. Can't tell you about any power increase, but the take offs feel a lot smoother. I had the AEM filter and never noticed a difference between that and stock.

Thank you everybody for the great feedback! We really appreciate it and are glad the intake is having positive effects!

Does swapping out to your intake system effect my factory warranty?

Hi James,

Unlikely. Mangson/Moss covers many mods unless the dealer/Ford can prove it caused damage. Mods that require cutting the frame for lifting the truck are another arena, Intake system changes are pretty mild unless you ingest water into the motor and damage the motor, for example.

Hi Phil,

Would you put one on your truck? I'm curious, Ford engineers calculate O2 and air flow rates and program the ecu etc. etc. to maximize power and efficiency. By increasing the air flow up to "50%" (Mishimoto website) it is curious how the ecu would react with regards to gas mileage.

thanks again for the response.

Cheers,

James

Hi James,

The short answer is no....I am happy with the power of the 2.3L and do not seek any additional performance. I think the ECU will eventually figure out the increased air flow and adjust fuel to take advantage of the increased air flow, assuming you can get the air out of the motor via more flow exhaust. I think air in and exhaust mods are relative effective if you choose to go that route.

Have fun with Mods for your Ranger! I was there once...loved to mod the vehicles I owned but now I am happy with the OEM design as I have moved on and become an artist of all things...quite different but fun for me.

Phil, thanks so much for the input. We are lucky to have someone like you on the forum who has so much knowledge who provides factual advice in a very respectful way. I do not have your level of knowledge but agree with you that if you improve both the intake and exhaust there will be a difference in performance. The question we all have to answer is the cost worth that difference and the answer to that will change from person to person. For me I will be soon adding an intake to go with my AWE exhaust.

I’ve always been a doubter of any real performance gains a CAI provides but I purchased the Misimoto and I’m not sure about any power gains but I will say it does absolutely feel smoother when going from a stop to 20mph or so.

Do you have a Canadian distributor set up? Or can we buy direct and have it shipped to Canada?
