Unless I am missing something the only way to get the ass down 2 inches is with spring rearching. I'm not planning on towing more than a small trailer and won't come close to maxing out payload. I have a Chevy 3500 for that mess.

On to the reason for the post (unless I did miss an option).

Any nightmare stories of screwing with a monoleaf and them not handling being messed with...??

And/or

Am I going to need to mess with the diff/axle angle if I do drop it a bit, to level it off some. I'm thinking no because it can handle that if I put stuff in the bed but - it will always be down now.

There's another long thread about "anyone lower their Ranger"...
Wasn't looking to drop the front at all and putting the spring under the axle is a bit much.

I'll hunt around in that post to see what information is there on a really mild rear end drop vs dropping both together. Must have missed it.

No you haven't missed it. There are a few of us that would like you like to level the truck by lowering the back, instead of raising the front. Unfortunately an axle flip is too much, without also rearching the springs or having new custom springs made. Rearching has been done with less than acceptable results. (Broken springs) Having one off custom springs made can't be cheap and getting the spring rate right a challange. Not to mention the right length shocks. To date no one has come out with a kit to do this, probably not enough interest.

Thanks for the feedback. Front is perfect for me but was hoping for a way to make the backend look less like it's trying to attract an F350 during mating season.

That said... I got running boards for the kids so maybe I could live with lifting the nose up 2 or so inches, heh. Not looking to get bigger tires so... Time to research pics of stock tire equipped leveled (nose up) Rangers.

Your best bet may be to talk to a reputable spring builder and design you or the public a similarly rated payload spring but flatter (?) if that’s possible.

In the 1970s (and almost certainly into the ‘80s) Chevrolet used negative arch front leaf springs on their K5 and K10 4x4 chassis, so there is some precedent for an inverted leaf. I’ve never seen one on a rear axle. Chevy’s stated purpose for this setup was that it improved steering. It looked strange on my ‘77 Blazer, so I asked lots of questions.

Maybe just get some good front shocks that allow using stock springs but with selectable lift. Like Eibach pro truck. You can select from 0 lift to 3" of lift in 0.75" increments.

The tote full of recovery and other emergency gear, shovel, axe, and “picnic” stuff, keep the backend of mine at an acceptable level. Maybe store a little junk in the trunk and call it good? :sunglasses:

That might be the compromise. A mild lift on the nose to offset the high back end. Slight rake vs what it has going on now

I already have random crap in the swing case. Maybe get the other side and load it with sand. Never know when you might need a bucket full of it.

Keep 1,000lbs of stuff in your bed all the time...with my RTT and camp gear, I have about that much and had to add an inch spacer to the rear to keep level with my 2.5" front lift...

Don't want to use up 2/3 of my payload to levely truck. I also tow a TT.
