Bought mine in California at a low altitude and live in Reno at around '4500. Could the high altitude be the cause of my low MPG? Anyone else live at high altitude and get very low MPG? Getting 13.5 MPG over the first 425 miles.

Lots of hills?

4500 feet isn't much different than sea level when the air is getting compressed in the turbo and the cylinder and the computer adjusts for air mass differences.

No hills, just around town driving like an old lady. 87-91 octane, auto stop/start on. Have tried everything. Just know if I take it to the dealer I'll get the Ford corporate canned answer. Love the truck, but bummed that I apparently got one of the defective models.

3690 on mine since October 18 2019 I have had a couple if fill-ups at 15 mpgs but generally high 18's and just the last two were 20 to 21 95% city driving, the better results were 100 miles or more trips. Maybe go for a spin that is around 100 or more miles and see if the results improve from 13,5 to 20 and up, sounds like the little guy hasn't been ran to hard yet.
Just a thought Steve, if that doesn't work to improve your mileage then call Ford service or best yet go to your service manager and tell Him or Her what the crazy thing is doing in comparison to everyone else reports
in your area and around this good ole US of A.
Good luck Man

I live near Kansas City and took my Ranger on a ski trip 2 weeks ago to Winter Park, CO. I was getting better mpg driving around Colorado than i get back home in KC. I think the gasoline was the biggest difference. Also your mileage will get better as you break your Ranger in. Mine got noticeably better after 3,000.

Agreed. You need to get out and get some different miles on it. The first 1000+ miles should be multi-use city and highway, fast and slow. Like I said in a previous post on a different thread, ~400 miles is hardly a huge sample size. Especially with a brand new truck and all city driving. I would give it at least a few thousand miles of mixed driving to really get a good idea of where the mileage is at.
