Ohh and the hardest thing for many to do is honestly evaluate what they want their suspension to do. Are you doing 60 mph over sand whoops or 7 mph over rocks.

For me, I want to go 60 mph over whoops, but realistically I go 7 mph over rocks. ?

I installed the Bilstein 5100 and set them to 1.8 (slot #4) and have been extremely happy with the results. Shock Surplus has them on sale for $499.

Bilstein 5100 gives you 4 or 5 height setting options, if you want to keep a little rake, try 1.2 or 1.8.
I run the Bilsteins at 1.2 for the reason stated by OP

What do you think of them? I'm about to pull the trigger, but I see people saying they're very stiff which makes me hesitate

I guess it depends on your definition of stiff. The ride definitely does not float like stock suspension. It is firm compared to that. This is the second truck in a row I've used the 5100s. I put over 160K on the last set and they were in fine shape when I traded that truck in on the Ranger. If you're looking for a cushy ride I'd stick with stock shocks. If you want better handling and a better driving experience IMO go with Bilsteins.

Did you carry over your stock springs to the 5100's?

Depending on use case, increasing or decreasing spring rate would change how stiff the ride is too.

Very new to trucks but I'm looking to get a little lift for extra clearance but I want to keep the rake for towing. Suggestions on a lift size, tires, shocks all of it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
Rear OME / ARB Spring lift (EL120R Lifts by 1.5") + 1" BDS Shackle lift will give you 2.5" lift in rear. The OME/ARB multi leaf springs will ride smooth as butter compared to stock springs..
On the front, Ford Ranger Extended Travel ICON Front 2.5 Coilover Kit 91255 for up to 3.5" front lift, so you can dial in the rake to keep like stock. Also dramatic ride improvement over the stock coilovers.
I am running 35x12.5 tires and have some run in the front so will need to do some trimming. I had 34" and zero rub at anytime with the BDS Crash bar replacements. Stock crash bars were a PITA to remove, as the truck seems to have been built around them.
