I think that whether it affects crash ratings, or insurance or warranty, will not deter those who want it, and have been waiting for a tank. Same could be said for swapping factory bumpers, raising suspension that might affect handling, installing really oversize wheel/tires that may affect braking......ect.....ect.
In the end it's up to the truck owner to make the determination.

That's what that sub owner / builder said.
It seems like a simple question for your insurance company to answer to be safe from liability the manufacturer is handing over to the buyers insurance in the event of a failure. Probably just a simple rider on the policy to be safe.

I tow in remote places. The bed is very full with gear including some just in case fuel. The price is high, but I expected that. I also want to see insurance / liability first. We’ll see. At this point, I’m a maybe, but a recent email to them asking about the tank brought no reply, and when companies don’t respond, I wonder about their customer support and wonder if I want to do business with them.

37-38 total gallons to fill up tank. We had a few gallons in it to get to the gas station, then 34 gallons on top of that.

Tank sits about 1/4" lower than the transfer case skid plate.

Awesome! Appreciate the photos! I wonder if a thin sheet of uhmw bonded to the side of the fuel tank between it and the driveshaft would be sufficient protection during an accident if something like this happened to the driveshaft:

This tank is SOLID! It would a lot to get through it, but I can't imagine it would hurt.

After speaking with the Long Range America guys today, it sounds like the tanks will be available around December, and they are shooting for a shipped price at $2000.

It's a shame they didn't make it slightly less tall, so that it sits flush -- wouldn't that be a 15% or so decrease in range? To me that'd be a worthwhile trade.

Just a quick FORScan update to the fuel tank size, and voila!

I haven't noticed any addition drop, but I'll keep an eye on it.

Congrats to the three people who will actually buy this product.

From a business stand point, trying to bring something like this to market for a dead generation Ranger seems a bit of a terrible decision.

Hence the $2k price tag.
