For starters, I can't see how you're going to keep the dust cap on. Beyond that they should be OK. I have them in the lowbeams of my Colorado. Fantastic light bulbs.
Thanks for sharing your light mod. Does the 6000K give off a BLUEISH tinge? I hate the blue colour and just want the bright white.
This is one of the reasons I haven't changed out my low beams yet. Same as you, I've been having a hard time finding any LEDs less than 6000K, which I feel is too blue. I prefer a warmer color that doesn't hurt my eyes, or the eyes of those driving around me. Something in the 5000-5500K would be perfect for me. So I guess I'm interested in hearing other peoples thoughts and experiences as well.
Unfortunately the Diode Dynamics H11 bulbs have fitment problems on the Ranger (and some other vehicles as well). I also wanted to go with those and I had a long email exchange with their tech support guy a couple months ago and they ended up taking them off the Ranger page on their website. They are working on a re-designed H11 to solve these fitment issues, but it will probably be a while before they are on the market. For now it's best to go with another brand. EDIT: The fitment issues have to do with more than just the dust covers, they don't clear the housing itself properly.

I really need some upgraded visibility for our backroads at night around here. I'm more than likely going to pick up the Baja Designs SAE fog lamp kit eventually. It would be nice to pair that with a good 5500k-ish LED headlight bulb too...
Looks like the Auxito kit is the best bet at this point.
We also drive a lot of dark highways where we live, which is one of the reasons I went with LED low-beams as well as high beams. I haven't upgraded the fog lamps yet. What I'm thinking of doing instead of upgrading the fog lamp bulbs is to go with a Diode Dynamics light bar. They have some pretty nice ones and you can get them in 6" increments. Each increment can have one of three different beam patterns (spot - the most like a normal high-beam, flood, and "fog", which is wide but not tall). One thing I found out talking with the tech support guy is that the spot beam pattern is designed to meet DOT requirements for high beams, so you can legally use them on the road as a high beam. They make a relay harness that can be used to slave them to your high beams so that the light bars turn on whenever your high-beams turn on.Damn, it looks like this is the case for the Diode Dynamics site but not the Stage 3 site. I swear by my Auxito's. I have them on both the low and high beams. Outstanding light output and they both fit within the factory dust covers. Great testimony! I think I'm definitely leaning towards that brand. It's just so hard when there's literally 200 different bulb brands these days. It's really hard to weed out the crap especially since most are within a fairly narrow price range.

Agreed. It's hard to choose and weed out the crap. Couldn't have said it better myself. I had a hard time deciding and just went with the Auxitos based on reviews on this forum. Personally I find them to be amazingly bright and responsive. I have them installed as high beams. But in my opinion they might be slightly too bright for low beams, that's why I haven't swapped those out yet. But again, your experience may vary.
Haha well we're about to find out because I ordered the Auxito H11 bulbs.
They say they're 6500k though. I used to run 8000k in my older cars so I think I'll be happy with the 6500k. I'm really interested in seeing a projector retrofit someday. I know there's probably not enough room in the lamp but I'm hopeful! I really like the look of the XLT headlamp and don't want to drop $2k on Lariat lamps.
