Wow! Sounds promising and thanks for sharing your experience on this.

I'll do the same, thanks for the gentle kick in the pants I needed!
Yep just do it!

Even a diag. would be cheaper than a new/rebuilt transmission.

Got my appointment set to drop off next Monday morning.

I'm going to be trying a different dealer as the one close to me has lately been returning "No Problem Found" even after I SHOW them what it's doing.

Gonna have to leave it a few days.

I'm going to have them revisit the heater box TSB as well since I've recently had a few instances where I'm freezing and my wife is roasting with dual zone turned off.

I want to get this taken care of before I start installing all the stuff that's piling up in the garage.

589 winch mount, winch, roof rack, LED headlights, and crash bars all in the batter box.

Edit: Well that was real fun.

The Ford Pass app no longer shows your extended warranty information.

I called them about it and they say it will be back soon but no ETA yet.

So I called Ford Protect to make absolutely sure they have my warranty information.

Yes, they have it so I should be good.

The kicker, I encountered this exact scenario with both FordPass and Ford Protect.

Customer Service shouldn't mean customer struggling to understand what they are being told.

That's because he used his 2022 vehicle to look up the TSB, Here is what it says for my 2020

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN
Harsh/Delayed Engagement And/Or Harsh/Delayed Shift
25-2024
07 February 2025
Model:
Ford
2019-2023 Ranger
Transmission/Transaxle: 10R80
Vehicles built on or before 15-Aug-2022
I literally have a blend date of Aug 16, 2022. Thouht for sure I would be out of luck but the website includes this bulletin when I enter my VIN. Can’t wait to have it looked at, love my truck but this trans is crap.

Well, poop! I just brought home my new-to-me 2022 Ranger. At this point, the transmission shifts smooth as silk, way better than my 2017 F150 with the 10r80. Now I'm wondering if the transmission has already been fixed or if I'm just waiting for it to go south. I ran the VIN, but when I click on the TSB it starts to open then goes blank. What does that indicate? BTW: just how widespread is this issue?

What’s the build date of the truck? ( on drivers door sticker)

4/22

So I see it is in the problem range. đź’©

I wonder if there is some way to know if it has already been worked on.

I would think the dealer you bought it from would be able to provide a list if warranty repairs. Otherwise maybe Ford customer service?
You should still be in the 5yr/60K power train warranty period though.

Yes, it's within the warranty period at 29K miles and a couple more years on the power train warranty. I'll run out of years before miles for sure. I've been debating getting the extended warranty from Granger. This might just tip the scales for me, especially with all the tech on this Lariat, and what Ford charges to fix stuff. As of right now, the transmission seems to operate perfectly, but I've only put about 130 miles on it.

Thanks!

If your thinking of the extended warranty then the time to do it is now seeing it has to be under the 3yr/36K warranty period.

In my Ford.com account, when I go to Service History it shows two things that were odd to me and one is likely a TSB for the windshield.

The first one (electrical) was the day I picked it up and the tech had to show me and the salesman how to initiate the one-touch window.

The second one, Glass, Other, is the one that I have no idea about. I've never asked them, but kind of assumed it was my windshield or that they put in for fraudulent reimbursement.

Maybe see if you have something listed in yours under your account > vehicle dashboard > maintenance > maintenance records

Btw, I've never been able to upload my self-service with "Add Record", I can enter stuff into the fields it shows but it can't save and throws an error.

Okay, I just went to Granger and bought the premium care plan! Now I just hope I never actually need to use it!

Just wanted to let people know that if your transmission does need rebuilt per the latest TSB, you might look into having a PPE or other transmission pan installed. Check with your shop but mine said there was no charge for the install since they already had remove/install the existing pan for the rebuild. Otherwise, they said it would be about $530 labor to install a new transmission pan.

Why would you do this? The transmission failures are caused by a bad part, and hopefully fixed by the redesigned part. The transmission pan doesn't matter.

I would do this to replace the cheap, plastic, stock pan that can easily break if it were hit by a stick or rock and to have a drain plug, which the stock one doesn't have, to be able to drain and replace the fluid a little more often than 150k, as the manual calls for. Both of those might help this trans last longer than the warranty.
