Back in the day we spliced an inline toggle switch to prevent a vehicle from starting. Some tapped into the ignition, some into the fuel pump, etc. Then you just hid the switch somewhere and flipped it on when you wanted to drive. Park it, and flip the switch to off. Was wondering if anyone had done similar with their Rangers? With all the tech, I would hate to tap into something that would cause any issues to any control modules. Any thoughts, ideas, tips??

I know back in the day my insurance carrier gave me a decent discount if I added this to my vehicle and showed a receipt along with a couple photos to prove it was in fact installed. Thoughts??

I was thinking of adding something like that to my Jeep because I'll be going top/doorless. I had this video saved (what you were describing) which should apply to most vehicles.

Nobody's stealing your truck without the key, or a flatbed.
If they clone it they can. Been a lot of that going around lately.

Exactly. I just would like to add an extra layer of deterrence. Simple to install, just need to figure out which line will do and would be safe enough to leave off without affecting the entire system.

I always get a laugh at that commercial. Although it does always bug me that the silver sedan just disappears while he is jimmying the car.

Move.

Life is much better when you don't live in a human cesspool.

Which you clearly do, if your this concerned about vehicle theft.

Life "out here" is cheaper, too ?
I use to live out in the country back in MA and it was great! Unfortunately now they (the crooks) come out there and into good neighborhoods because they know that's where the good stuff is. They're not going to steal anything worthwhile in their own hood.

Here is another that uses the neutral safety switch. And if you want to add horn
or alarm to sound when the ignition is turned.
