Hey all, I just ordered some RTR fender flares and just opened the box and noticed they all have a good bit of scuff marks on them. I'm not sure if this is normal, or if I'm being too nitpicky, but for $600 these don't really look good at all. Some of them seemed like minor smudges that I could wipe off, others wouldn't come off.

Does this seem normal?

Aaron, my Bushwackers showed up in plastic sleeves and had a few minor marks like those - I think the makers expect these flares will be painted and don’t go very far with protection. Anyway, after applying some plastic protector like Armor All, Aero Cosmetics, or 303 Protectant, they’ll look as good as ever.

Don’t do it before you install them or the adhesive rubber gasket/piping won’t stick.

Good to know! I was already debating with my self on getting them painted, I think I'm leaning more that direction now.

They get scuffed in transit as they rub against each other. My Bushwhackers were the same. I think they assume you're going to paint them and/or just don't care to package them better.

My Lund branded (same as bushwacker) OE profile flares came very well packaged with foam sleeves and plastic bags surrounding each flare. But the fitment was only 95% of the way there when it was time to install.

Let me guess, the marker lighting fitment.

LUND sent me a whole new front set. Same problem with new set. So I just used some tin-snips to cut out the badly molded marker lighting cavity until it would pop in. Now I have an extra set of front lund flares. lol

You got it! I had to dremel a good chunk out of the back of my marker to get it to even sit. Even then it's about 1/8" from flush. I didn't push my luck with trying to get another set since I'm using aftermarket markers. Also had to finagle the passenger front, forward most mounting screw a LOT to get it to thread in. But I'm happy for the price I paid.

Screw that, I modded the flare opening, not my marker light LOL
