I should add - if your doing forest roads/fire roads, the FX4 is really just as capable as the Tremor. Just a matter of what your personal idea of a good ride is. Preference over any real difference. In moderate off-roading, the Tremor probably has a bit of an advantage due to the extra inch and the rear suspension. Neither will be as capable as a home-built truck if you're going to get on rated trails. In the long run, buying a 4x4 with locker and upgrading it is the best bang for your buck if that's your intention. If you're like me and will be staying on (bad) roads when you're "off-roading" and overlanding and you don't want to spend time tearing apart a new truck, both the FX4 and Tremor are up to the task. My personal opinion from test drives prior to buying and from the threads here is that the Tremor is a nicer riding package, both on pavement and rough roads, but again, that's a subjective thing.
For us these days, it is mostly FS roads with the occasional 4X trail, but mostly just to get to trailheads and fishing spots. We have a Jeep Rubicon that we will be selling, mostly because I would rather have the bed for hauling and don't use the Rubicon to its full capabilities anyway. I have never engaged the front locker other than to see if it worked, since we bought it.

I just found out I can't get the auto start-stop delete if I change to Tremor package, so I will stick with the FX4, Sport Trim and plan to swap to the Fox Shocks if the ride seems really objectionable. Given the test drive in the Non-FX4/Tremor Lariat seemed fine, I suspect I might be in the numb butt club and will think the FX4 ride is fine.

Thanks for the frank assessments, this place is great.

If the ASS delete is what had you on the fence, you can disable it by plugging a $5 led nightlight into the 110v outlet.

It wasn't the only thing, actually why I spec'ed the FX4 over the Tremor originally was I could get the Bone colored seats in the FX4. The Tremor mandated the black seats which both my wife and I really wanted to avoid.

I am OK with swapping in the Fox Shocks after the fact if I find the FX4 ride objectionable.. Some of the other stuff on the Tremor, I probably would be deleting myself (steps, the red gills, etc.), just personal preference stuff.

Thanks again, I appreciate the feedback.

To contradict myself...

This is why the FX4 package is worth considering over a base 4WD, or even a Tremor:

* Factory skid plates (Shrockworks are around a $1000 for a full set, yes they are nicer, but basically the cost of the entire FX4 package)
* FX4 includes a rear locker, I think it's a $400-500 standalone option
* Trail management and Trail control
* FX4 can be added on a base level XLT, or a STX. Tremor requires mid-level XLT ($1600 extra)

But for me, here is what I would replace day one on a FX4, the shocks $1200-1600 without labor or alignment, and the tires $1000.

So let's just throw out $3000 on day one. Then I'd want different rear leafs too. Maybe $800-1000. That is very close to the price of a Tremor, but I wouldn't get the wheels or the upfitter switches, nor the added resale value.
Thanks for all the detail, again, very helpful.

I think I have made peace with my original idea of the an FX4 and then upgrading the shocks down the road. I guess all this going back and forth is the only good side of waiting for the truck to be scheduled.

Truth be told, the FX4 gives me a few options I can't get with the Tremor and almost for sure gives me everything I need for off-road. As far as resale, my average time to keep a truck is about 12 years and I have found with that kind of age, the value generally comes down to mileage and condition. But I can see your point on desirability down the road, the Tremor definitely will win out in the popularity quotient.

Again, thanks for taking the time to detail out all this stuff

If the Tremor had been available when I bought my FX4 I would have bought it. I consider mine a Tremor Lite as I added full Ford Tuned Fox Suspension with a size larger tires and a Livernoise tune. Pretty sure my Ranger can do anything a Tremor can do.

With maybe the exception of a tire upgrade, there is no doubt in my mind the FX4 will take us anywhere we want to go these days. For where we go, more capability usually isn't a go/nogo thing, but maybe just takes a little away from the need for planning and paying attention to the details straight ahead of us. ;)

Having said that, the Tremor package, unlike so many factory add-ons, does seem like a genuine good value.

I was curious about the same thing...

'Cause I'm starting to see some of the OE Fox Suspension pieces pop-up in the Marketplace...

I was thinking about placing offers on the Fox Strut/Shock assemblies and for the matching rear-shocks.

Plus, I figured this would be an improvement over the factory base/standard 4x4 suspension...
Yeah, I have the optional rear-locker too.

Plus, combining it with a Hellwig aftermarket rear sway-bar too.

While maintaining the OE wheels & tires for now.
Ohh I totally forgot that the Tremor has different sway bars. They are less rigid.

I'd go ahead and budget for different shocks right out of the gate. The FX (Not Fox) shocks are truly awful, incredibly under-damped.

Some Bilstein 4600 (Soft to moderate) or Bilstein 5100 (moderate to stiff) will only cost you a few hundred dollars and will transform the ride.

Enjoy your truck, don't let us, me included, discourage you in any way.

Exactly why I ordered the FX4 over the Tremor. Has stone interior as I'm not a fan of black either. I got the black package which I like the accents and running boards/steps better than Tremor. Probably will swap out the shock/coils to either fox or eibach leveling kits. Also no need for the added clutter of switches on the dash as I do plan to add any auxiliary items.

On my Rubicon, I have a six switch cluster (aftermarket, fits in the factory aux switch place). I have two positions populated (both LED light bars). I think to use all six, I would be referred to as the gadget guy by my friends. ;)

No comparison. Tremor is a way better riding truck in my opinion. Drive a sport, FX4 and Tremor before buying.
The choice will be obvious.

I think I might be waiting until the 2025 models are arriving on lots for that to happen. Pretty much every Ranger a dealer gets in our area is sold before it comes off the truck.

I drove an FX4 and that's why I went Tremor but it's subjective - there are plenty of FX4 owners who think it's the perfect ride. To each their own.
