I gave the Marine Corps 27 years, 5 months, 11 days (we count these things) and retired in 2009 at age 47. It never felt like work to me. My time has been my own since then. I still get up before sunrise every day.

HOOAH to all the brothers & sisters in arms!
Like so many others here, I'm a jack of all trades and a master of none. Started framing houses when I was 13, with my uncle, continued all through high school, graduated HS, joined the Army, got married when I came home, had kids, earned a couple of degrees in fields I have nothing to do with now, raising a grand daughter...that's a life long job! Fought fires for 6 years, lived off Ramon Noodles so our kids could have more. (we've all been there) Never complained as long as they were happy.
I'm currently the 4th generation with Kimberly-Clark Corporation in Mobile, AL; Cottonelle, Scott 1000, etc. My great grandfather was a machinist when they first opened the mill in '42. I started as an operator, working shift work, 12 hour days. I took a leap of faith and applied for a day role, and love every minute of it. Still working 12 - 14 hours a day, but more with my brain and troubleshooting skills.

Not as exciting as others, but it's a career I'm proud of! Y'all rock!

My resume is long. Lots of different jobs until I finally grew up at the age of 30. Lol. I found my calling fixing things at an apartment complex in Lincoln, Ne. I can pretty much fix anything in your home. My wife loves me for this. I save us a fortune!! Haha! Currently, I am in Fabulous Las Vegas working as a facilities supervisor for one of the major casino and hotels. I love this job!!

Eric here, I've been turning wrenches for 46 years, mostly for Ford dealers. I am now a transit bus mechanic. I also teach cycling spin classes at a local gym.

Haha! I used to work at that plant for a short year. I worked on the powder paint line for the Mule in the early 90s.

unfortunately that’s probably the same paint line we have today that has some ongoing maintenance issues ??

My daytime job is shop foreman for a heavy equipment/semi shop. However I build, repair almost anything on the side. Journeyman HD Tech, Journeyman Auto Tech, Journeyman Small Engine Tech, Steam Engineering Ticket, Level 3 Welder and Machinist.
Numerous Electrical/ Electronic certificates. Basically I’ll do anything that I find interesting and fun!

I do something where I get paid garbage compared to other people of my age and can only make a decent living with overtime.

The plus side is every once in a while I get to help people who really need it and I feel I am contributing to people instead of contributing to a corporate bank account. That and pretty much have 100% job security.

Changed careers after the third lay off working in the tech industry because it was more profitable to have someone do what I do on other side of ocean.

Awesome! my degree is in cybersecurity, and i work in a field doing nothing related to it lol.... for now...

I work for NASA as the CTO (Chief Technology Officer in I.T.) at my center. I love NASA and love the environment and workplace. It's one of the first jobs outside of the U.S. Coast Guard where everyone feels like family.
