Jeez, how can this be?

I was hauling river rock the other day and had it loaded at the rock place. Was on my third and final haul and had a new loader. Asked him to be careful as the first two loaders did a great job. This guy was very careful but when he first started dropping the stones into the bed, a few got in between the rear of the cab an the bed. Probably 15-20 small stones trapped in there. Any suggestions on how to remove them?

Also got some small pebbles and dirt into the tailgate as well. I figure these will eventually work themselves free or I could remove the tailgate and shake them out.

I used a yard stick to pop out the bulkhead plugs before taking the truck for Line-X. Maybe you could get one in there to push/lift them out?

If all else fails, a thin stiff board and lay under the truck and press them up and out?

I made the mistake of getting some fill dirt and not putting a tarp down. 5 months later when I wash the truck I still have random dirt coming out the bed from somewhere haha

If they're jammed in between the front of the bed and the rear bulkhead, you might try flexing the truck on an object to get them loose.

I can't offer any advice to fix your issue. However this thread made me think of an idea to prevent something like that in the future for cheap. I bet you could get one of those pool noodles and cut it in half lengthwise. Then wedge it in between the bulkhead and the cab before being loaded. That should prevent any debris from falling in. It might look a bit silly but I think it would work.

So I have tried a bunch of different ways to get these rocks out. All to no avail. I did manage to get a bunch of other crap out of there. It no rocks. I think the way that may work is to take a vinyl coated hanger and put some foam around the end going down to the rocks. This way the foam can fill the space between the cab and bed as the stones are being lifted out.



I did get all the dirt and stones out from the tailgate. Small victories.

Thinking there is a way that combines the pool noodle and tailgate damper and be combined for the new bed/cab conveyor for moving stuff out from the space...?

put a bike tube between and air pressure should slightly spread the opening to get the rocks out.
