So, like most owners who has gotten a letter from Ford regarding the recall updates for your Sync 3, I scheudules my local dealer to conduct the work as specified on the letter.

After picking up my truck I ran into a couple of issues......

First off, everytome I starup my truck, I get this annoying "911 assistant is not fucntional" warning. This was never there before the update.

Also my FordPass app nolonger cant connect to my truck after this update.

I tried following the troubleshooting instructions, there was a point wher is says go to settings and disable/enable connectivity, but I can't find that menu option?
I'm I missing something?

You could try a hardware reset found in the Synch menu settings.

It sounds like - the APIM is not communicating with the TCU, as the reason for both issues.
So, try the Hard Reset and if that does not work, have dealer reload the software.

Thats sounds more logical. Talked to the dealership today and they want to take a look at it this Thursday, just whish I dont have to leave the truck there overnight.......

Another possible is remove the phone from the (Sync) and reestablish a connection and make sure Ford Pass is updated on the phone.
I recall some members having to call - Customer Service for a similar issue, it has to do with your phone (ESN) being an authorized communication port to the truck.
And I believe that 911-Assist requires phone (Blue-Tooth) connection for that to be active.
So, a possible alternative to having the dealer do a (Re-Load)

You may try - a physical phone connection via (USB) as well to see if the Sync will pick it up.

Does the Modem serial number appear in the Sync menus? If your modem is not working, it won't show a serial number. If this is the case, try removing F9 in the BCM (under the driver's side dash) and putting it back in. This will reboot the modem.

In Synch menu: Settings - Vehicle - Onboard Modem Serial Number. If no serial number is displayed, the modem needs to be rebooted.

So......I found the F9 fuse for the TCU, unplugged the fuse for about 2 munites, plug it back in and.....still the same.
How long do I need to leave the fuse unplugged to reboot the modem.

Would it safe to say that the dealer messed up my TCU?

An example - (OLDER) Sync Version of what should be on that screen
At least with (Navigation), unsure about (Non-Navigation) Trucks

I think the software needs reloaded, especially if you have Navigation as the Nav Tab is missing on your screen.
Even if you do not have Nav, the Sync Software is not seeing the TCU and or The Dealer Wiped the system and the TCU needs Reactivated by Ford (Turned On)
I would have to dig some - but I THINK that owners you have had issues with the Modem ESN still had the other (information) viewable related to the modem.

I know that there are some - Settings in the Menu related to the On-Board Modem

Settings - Ford Pass Connect, within that menu is Vehicle Connectivity
Do you have a - Ford Pass Connect Tab?

Did you see a serial number for the modem? If so, I would go back to the dealer and have them reload the software. You should leave the fuse out for about 1 minute.

I did a quick check on mine - even with turning everything off in - Ford Pass Connect
All Information still shows on the About Sync - Screen

I also noted - as it was mentioned - You should have a 911 Assist Tab in the Sync Menus as well as the Ford Pass Connect

So, I suggest a Software Reload or the TCU is dead
