Mine went up about $17/month - now paying about $65/month. My old Ranger was $48/month. Still $20/month cheaper than our C-Max, which really surprised me. State Farm.

I figure one's credit report is irrelevant as long as the insurance company gets paid!
But they get away with shenanigans like that because we let them!

You guys make me sorta feel bad for complaining since my 2019 Ranger premium is gonna be 40% more than my 2001 Ranger. It'll be $500 for the year with an umbrella and full replacement for the first three years.
They'd better not ask me about miles driven. That's only for antique cars.
The reason Insurers check one's credit is because those with bad credit may attempt insurance fraud. Such as leaving the keys in the vehicle in San Ysidro Ca LOL. The Southwest insurers are notorious for dealing with fraud and "stolen" vehicles taken to Mexico

Don't buy it... In IllAnnoy they use it when setting rates.
At any rate there's no choice.
Insurance companies started taking liberties on the first day of mandatory insurance.
Personally, I benefit from the practice of credit checks, but that doesn't make it right.

Been with SF since '78. Ranger raised it aprox $100 same coverage over my 20 y/o truck I just sold. I'm good with that.

A few years ago my insurance rates took what I considered to be a sizeable jump, when I called they said it was because of my credit rating, said people like me are more likely to file a claim. I have been debt free since 97 and only took 2 loans out in 04 because of the incentives on a car and truck but paid those off after the first payment. Since I had already been shopping for new insurance I told them they didn't have to worry about me filing a claim and canceled while on the phone. Easy to shop around and find the best rates online, just have to make sure the coverage is comparable and the company is reputable.

Switching from my '16 Subaru Crosstrek to the Ranger, I save like $20/mo, for a total of like $550 every 6 months for full coverage, $500 deductible.

Be careful not to let your insurance lapse in the meantime. If you have any gap in coverage, they jack up your rates for 6 months because you're "unreliable."

Insurance is the biggest scam there is.

Traded a 2019 Tacoma and our insurance went up $5 a year. There goes my kid's college fund.

Going from a 2005 Colorado to the Ranger I went up $30/month. Odd thing is that my Mazda went up $30/month this year also but for no real reason that I know of...

I think it's very interesting, I've owned a lot of cars and the insurance kept varying between $600 and $2,500. I think it's pretty unstable, you should always look for better companies. My last car Tacoma (where insurance cost $1250), I traded in for a CX-5 '17 (insurance about $700). I think the difference is well noticeable. My friend's Tacoma was $800 and he always had insurance at https://joywallet.com/geico-auto-insurance-review/. You should have seen my face when I found out he was paying $550 less than me.

Well everyone always says "use the search bar" lol

Looks like Paul @OrangeStreak now has some competition for resurrecting the oldest thread. ??
