I have been trying to find a small slide in camper for over a year.
I was able to find a small fiberglass camper, but it was a bit cramped.
Luckily, Torklift makes great tie downs for the Ranger.

Seems like a nice camper for the weight it's showing. Ranger should handle it no problem...BUT...
But remember...thats dry weight without any options/personal stuff.
If you add an ac thats around 125 lbs. 12 gallons of fresh water is 100 lbs. Two batteries and two filled propane tanks...maybe another 125 lbs. Food, clothing, kitchen stuff, personal items...maybe another 250-300 lbs. You will have hoses, waste hoses, whatever tools you may carry, ect ect ect.
You have to take all that into consideration when loading up the truck.
Go into it with wide open eyes and do your homework.
Pay load rating is 1770 or 1560 depending on 2 or 4 wheel drive. And, remember, that is total load with cargo/occupants/load in bed. So, if you get an approx total weight, seems like you would be close to max.
But, the Ranger should have plenty of power, and I would think that the addition of a good set of shocks and an airbag system would take care of it without a problem.
Also, due to the high profile, if it were me, I would look into a rear sway bar...would help a lot.

The specs at that link list it at 1,070 lbs dry weight. With a driver, passenger, and gas, you’ll be at max payload.

I think you should keep looking.

Those are nice rigs, but even the light weight Scout is only a few lbs lighter than OP's rig hes looking at. other two weigh even more.
Truck campers are the one camper we have never owned, but, me-personally...if you beef up the rear suspension, I wouldn't worry at all about the Rangers ability to haul it.
Rig he's looking at...I'd get a good set of shocks all around, add a Firestone rear airbag set up, a rear sway bar, and head for the road.

The weights listed are with propane, batteries etc, AC is a wall unit, not rooftop only adding 40-60lbs. (which I am not adding)
My Lariat is 4x4 and payload is 1560. Plus I added Sumo Springs last spring.
I will definitely be close to max, but I don't think that is cause for alarm.
Keep in mind, Tacomas are only rated for 1155 lbs.

No thanks, they are $10,000-15,000 more and have NO options.
I'd rather have a toilet and some normal options than an empty shell.
Especially considering how heavy the Scout actually is.

WOW...that is light considering it includes batteries, ac, ect.
With that going for you, I wouldn't worry about carrying it, along with whatever cargo you carry.
Over the years I have seen many people claim the "gospel" about weight and that one should never go over the limit. I really wouldn't worry even if you are over a bit...one-two hundred lbs is not something I (me personally) would be concerned with.
What is scary are some that are actually on the road as the photos show....definately over loaded.

Reminds me of Shop class in High School. We built and sold these at cost plus 10%. Full campers and basic toppers. There’s a ton of work in a camper! We also built a few garages in the neighbourhood to learn basic building construction. Great Shop teacher!

What the !#$& happened!! If we did THAT sort of thing in school, we'd be a lot better off. I learned nothing other than how to regurgitate whatever our (mostly) weird teachers wanted to hear

We had an auto shop class that you could bring in your own car and do major work on it. We did removal and tear downs as a class working together with teacher instructions for the tasks at hand. One project was pulling my 396 SS motor and doing the top end on it. Went to dual quads with a half cam and headers. Man that was a beast afterwards. Got graded for the work done. We passed with bonus points that year.
