What the !#$& happened!! If we did THAT sort of thing in school, we'd be a lot better off. I learned nothing other than how to regurgitate whatever our (mostly) weird teachers wanted to hear
Yeah, most our other classes were that way except for Shop, Phys. Ed. and Physics. I mean, who can’t learn Physics when the teacher puts the question this way, “We launch Duke (98 lb weakling) off the edge of a 200 ft cliff at an angle of 40 degrees and a velocity of 30 m/s. How far down in the valley, away from the cliff edge does Duke land?”

I was a junior and then a senior in high school in the early 70's and we used to have usually 2 or 3 students working for us (making truck caps and camperettes) through the school/work vocational program. They'd go to school in the mornings, then around 1 p.m. would head to work. I used to get a lot of good fun ribbing at school from those fellows. Their student parking lot was right outside my business courses' class room... the teacher and whole class would have to stop for a few moments as the guys were letting out and getting into their cars made sure to put on a show waving "Hi Val babes"! Luckily, my teacher was very tolerant. To this day, one of the guys stays in touch with our family and still calls me Val Babes to rib me on Facebook. It warms my heart when he tells me stories how he fondly remembers my father and considers him his mentor.
We are no longer located in that part of PA. Here they have a vo-tech school. Usually every year we have a welder working through their school/work program. Our best worker who has been with us over 40 years came to us through that vo-tech program!

if a tacoma can work with it... seriously don't know how people put these on a tacoma. can you imagine trying to get up to 35? it would take a steep down hill to get on a highway and still not get enough speed

Don't knock those older Toyo's, Rangers. Nissans, and S-10...they've been hauling truck campers as long as they have been made. Have seen many over the years in my travels, and many with the 4 cyl engines. Even later with the V-6, they got around pretty good. And, i will guarantee you that they were heavier than the present day rigs which use light weight aluminum framing and thin composite panels. Some stuff back than used solid wood framing and plywood sides, roofs, floors.
Give you some idea of what was back in the "olden days"....

Retired, work is a four letter word.
Reminds me of Shop class in High School. We built and sold these at cost plus 10%. Full campers and basic toppers. There’s a ton of work in a camper! We also built a few garages in the neighbourhood to learn basic building construction. Great Shop teacher!
Same here, too damn bad they still don't have that in school, kids these days would hurt themselves with a hammer.
