And I'm a new ranger owner. I'm neutral on the dealer as they did sell me the truck at the price as stated, but it wasn't as straight forward as he made it out to sound. After explicitly asking if there were any BS add ons and being told no, when I looked at the final paperwork he sent over to me, the $399 dealer fee was actually a $150 dealer fee, and a $249 charge for window etching. I told him if they had already etched the windows, that would be a deal breaker for me as it looks like shit. I told him the total dealer cost was only slightly high, and I had no issue with the cost, but I didn't want the etching done. Of course, he was able to get there early enough on Monday to make sure it wasn't done during prep, so I went ahead with the deal at $1k off MSRP, and using a $1250 mailer cash offer. Two weeks later, and I think I have a truck. With my impatience growing every day I can't even order my truck, I started searching an ever wider area. I found plenty of 501a tremors available, but most were in my last color choice of black. I found a couple others, one of which is in hot pepper red, the dealer has it on the lot, ready to go, and said price is $1k under msrp, no add ons, just dealer fees of $400. I told him I need to see the color in person first, so I drove to a closer dealer who also had a hot pepper red tremor on the lot(for $3k over msrp) and decided it will work for me. I emailed the dealer back at the end of the day yesterday saying I'll take it. write up the contract and send me a copy and I'll drive over on Monday to pick it up.
We'll see if it works out tomorrow.
I guess the prep guy is used to only doing window etching because it wasn't very well cleaned, not filled with gas, and one of the doors is very poorly adjusted, to the point I will take it back to a local dealer and have them adjust it when they install the trailer brake controller. I had scheduled to be there at 5 and told them to have everything ready to go, but besides having to take it back out for gas, they didn't even have the paperwork done yet. It was after 7 by the time I finally left, and anything over an hour at a dealer is too much for me. Thankfully, I filled nearly 45 minutes of the time waiting on a test drive of the new F150 lightning.
I got home pretty late, so had to give it a real washing and cleaning today, got it in to the tint guy for the window tinting, and scheduled it in for both the spray in bed liner and trailer brake controller install. Another week, and I hope to have it how I want it and I leave it alone and just drive it.
