"I got a $25 gift card from Home Depot for Christmas an picked up this nice tote for $24.99. It has notches to slip the ratchet strap through an locks shut with a solid snap." Said, Langwilliams

Thanks for posting, I will have to check this out the next time I am at the Home Depot.
I really don't have a need for a high tech Roan type case.

The dealership I got my ranger from installs the plastic bed liners before they hit the lot. I would prefer the spray in liner but I'm not ready to toss the drop in one yet.
Be sure to take it out for the spray-in liner soon. Plastic drop in liners scratch the bed pretty badly.

Great advice!

There was a fella on the facebook 2019 Ranger site that said his "Ford" drop in liner wore through the paint and primer and was rusting the bed... within a month.

I'd like a spray in but my truck came with the drop in....I'm stuck with it for budget reasons for at least a year. Next years birthday present to myself maybe.

Completely understand. Maybe you could remove it and lay some cheap carpet under it. At least this will protect the bed from scratches untill you can afford it. You can get some thin, cheap carpet at Home Depot for like $3 a linear foot -6' wide. Cost you like $15 and a little work to protect the metal.

You'll be surprised how much is scratches the bed. I was.

Take the bed liner out.

That would be better than placing something under it, like carpet. Carpet will get wet and make the problem worse.

Were there pictures on Facebook because I have a hard time believing this. Every single one of my F 150's had drop in liners and I never had any problems with the bed being "severely scratched" let alone rusting. I would take the bed liners out before trading them in and drop it into the next one since they were the same design. This was back in MA and I never had a cover or cap on any of them either. I would also have the bed filled with eqpt and stuff sliding around.

Maybe the Rangers paint is a lot thinner in the bed than my F 150's but if he's really having those problems I would be pissed and bring it into Ford and make them re-paint the bed.

No pictures. The guy said he removed the liner to get a spray in liner, and that there was rust on the bed floor. Don;t know why he would have been lying about it, but I guess maybe that's possible?

My '02 Tacoma that we bought new had a Toyota factory drop in liner... 17 years later the paint under it was scuffed, but no rust anywhere.

I have noticed on my truck the thickness of the paint is minimal... that may well be the significant difference.

I'm sure that's the case as I never got to see my Rangers bed paint because the dealer had already put a drop in liner and a few other "dealer add ons" on the truck. My only guess it it's a lot thinner paint than the older F 150's were and it's scratching off from the vibration. Pretty cheap of Ford to skimp on this because not everyone puts a liner in their beds.

I wasn't doubting your post I just have a hard time believing stuff posted on social media especially Fakebook. :)
