You clean under there? Last time I cleaned an engine I had to replace 2 sensors. Mever again.
That's my excuse for never doing mine. I was nervous I'd mess something up.?

My old 7.3 had a few sensors that when they went out you were stranded. You would always keep them in your glove box, typically the CPS and a 10mm wrench. Well that one went out, and another one that I do not remember. So dirty looks good under there.

It is interesting the anecdotal evidence that water under the hood ruins things....

Owners put snorkels on these, and other, trucks and drive them through hood height rivers.

Perhaps it is the method of said water that was the issue... As pan says, companies spend lots of dollars to make these trucks water resistant. If a wash down with water causes something to break, it is probably better it broke in your driveway rather than going down the road during a rain storm....

We don't get much rain out here and I've never been in any deep (or shallow) water off roading with mine. But it's not like years ago when we had points and distributor caps that would crack to worry about now.

You're right about having it fail on you in your driveway opposed to out somewhere deep in the trails. I think if you use common sense (yeah many don't have it anymore) and not soak the engine bay down and follow the steps in the video you should be good. With that said I'm sticking' to my story and letting mine stay dirty until the spring. ?

Sucks if it fails in the driveway and no one else is home to take you to the parts store! And I pressure washed my engine before. I was a teenager so probably not smart. I have degreased engines since then but take great care to not get water on anything electric. And personally I would never take a modern vehicle anywhere that required a snorkle. For thst give me an old mechanical injection diesel. Batter is optional once they are running. Dont get me wrong I like electronics, but they dont like water.

Here's mine at 98K...the only thing I do is use compressed air to blow out dust and rinse with spot free water for like 5 seconds once a month while I run through the coin wash...how often do you @AzScorpion open your hood Dave? ? ? ?

Times have changed. Back in the day, all it took was a spray can of GUNK Engine Degreaser and 5 minutes at the coin-op car wash.

Pull the breather, stuff a rag in the carb, spray the hell out of everything, pressure wash off all the grease and grime, done. Hey look at that, my valve covers aren’t leaking anymore!

You may be laughing... But I do this to my subaru every couple of weeks... I spray degreaser all over the block and undercarriage... Let it sit a few minutes and spray it off.

For a few hours I have no more leaking head gaskets or valve gaskets...
