Lariat = More Electronics
More electronics require a deeper reserve.
Deeper Reserve = Larger Battery

It's only a little bit bigger (2" wider) but we'll see if it works. Should know in 18 months if it lasts longer - LOL!

RockAuto has the Motorcraft battery for the Lariat for $147.79 + $16.00 core charge. Shipping is about $10.00.

About a month or so ago, I noticed the ASS quit working, although I've learned to manipulate it with the brake pedal. But it def quit working. Then I noticed a notice to the effect of "battery saving mode" in both app and console. Center console has gone completely dark - can't turn it on all. Every now and then it will light up and give the correct date and time and then go dark when I first get in the vehicle before starting up the engine. After reading through this thread, I suspect my battery. I checked my app, it says the same thing about battery saving. My Ranger is a 2020 XL with MFR date of November 2019; I purchased it in Feb of 2020 with 100 miles on it. I have an appt with the dealer next Saturday to hopefully sort it out. I have 25.6K miles on it. Hoping for a good result.
Update - the dealer replaced it under the B2BW no questions asked - I did ask if they would replace it with a Lariat Battery and I would pay the difference, and the service manager said while she would like to that, her boss wouldn't approve it. Had to try - at least no out of pocket $$ for me.

My 2019 Lariat appears to have the original battery, and it runs pretty low on voltage and I get sleep mode. Got a new one today at Wally world for $170 with a full 4 year replacement. We'll see how this lasts.

Put the new battery in and have it on charge for the night. Did manage to find another defect, the perfectly aligned point on the corner of the hood right above the battery, makes a nice dent in your head.

Hi Folks,

Original battery....Three months. Replacement going strong for over 3 years. Battery quality of OEM supplier is suspect...

Best,
Phil
This was my experience as well. Months vs years out of mine. Replaced my OEM AGM H6 size that came in my XL with Walmart brand EverStart traditional lead-based H7 and been perfect since.

One good thing about going to a traditional lead battery is the alternator can send full charge to it at all times (factory setting with AGM battery is vary alternator output to keep battery around 80% charge) and it won’t reduce battery life like can happen with AGMs getting 100% charge all the time. At least that’s what Google taught me…?

To take advantage of sending a constant full charge from alternator to a traditional lead-based battery, you can either unplug the sensor on the negative battery post OR if you want ASS still activated you can modify the battery charge % setting in FORSCAN so the alternator will not vary output.

Found this regarding AGM batteries. Could this be why they are dying prematurely? Makes you wonder what Ford is thinking with their settings. Mine will be on tender charge forever, and have increased to 90% with Forscan.

XLT 19. On the OG battery with 73k miles. Outside of the ABS errors and fuel gauge not functioning, going smooth
NO ABS AND FUEL GAUGE? Friend of mine owns a Subaru. When his O2 sensor quite, it did the same thing only more, w/wipers, turn signals etc

???? I didn’t try the O2 sensor. I ended up looking at some jeep forums. I guess they have the same M220 rear axle/diff. The culprit is the rear speed sensor. Crappy design and it’s magnetic so bits of metal get stuck on it and then build up. After that it needs to be wiped clean or worse, the metal chips away at it and breaks it (in my case).
Solution:
Buy new speed sensors and replace them all the time. At least that’s what i can do for now.

I bought my 2019 ranger in late Dec 2019. I have 35K on it. The last few days when I park at work the radio kicks off after just 2 or 3 minutes an the phone charger does too. Today I tried to verify I locked it with the app an got a message remote functions not avail vehicle in deep sleep. Wonder if my battery is going away?
As smart as the computer system is it does not directly tell you check battery when voltage drops. It gives you hints such as disabling auto stop, keyless entry and lighting. If you get a system shut down message upon start up that is for sure sign to get your battery checked.

Not sure of build date but purchased June 2019 and replaced last Saturday with a Interstate Z rated battery. Not cheap but I have had good experiences with Interstate.

I deliver parts in a 2018 transit at a Ford dealership. The alternator went out. First the battery light came on, then in a minute the a/c went out, then the cruise shut off. I was heading for the exit by then an the power steering went out. 2018 with 147K on it when it failed.
