I just delt with same issue ford warranty at 45000 miles.... truck is a 2019I noticed this hose is separated from one end. I do not know what this is for, and the dealership just did an “inspection” during a service and didn’t say a word. Any idea on what it’s purpose is and/or how severe it being severed is? Thanks.
I glued mine back together til the dealer gets me a new one. Already has been 2 monthsAnother thought I had, you could always put another connector right at the arrow and break the locking tab off of it. That way if it ever fails it will just yank the connector apart instead of mangling the wires.
Yes i saw a post on the 6th gen forum showing a elec fan setup, i can only begin to cringe what the cost will be to purchase over the parts counter knowing how marked up Ford parts are, but as the saying goes ' Hope springs eternal'. ?
You will want to check the wires to the fan clutch for bare wiring or worn through wires and repair them.My turn for this one. Truck was idling kinda funny with a ton of inconsistent vibration, and weird bumpy acceleration from a stop. Looked inside the bay to check for anything moving around while it was running and found this.
No problems anymore idling in the driveway after manually moving it for a test. Going to zip-tie it up tomorrow morning to go get some replacement tubing. Harness was on the fan shaft when I found it but appears mostly intact still. Probably going to over-wrap it to give it some extra protection in case it happens again.
55k miles / 6 years. I still have a year of extended power-train warranty but IIRC it's $200 or 20% for the repair. $10 of tubing on a day I already took off work to avoid specific work events is worth not bothering over it.
Absolutely. I did a basic check for them from the top by feel and didn't notice anything. I was thinking the issues were caused by the tugging on the plug while the harness was on the fan drive shaft, creating a network packet-loss type of issue as it bounced on it. I couldn't see or feel much in the way of bare wires from above this afternoon, going to check from under tomorrow and get the phone camera in better spots to confirm/deny. Fortunately I'm a nerd that works with a bunch of other nerds, some of which are into hardware mods for all kinds of things that I can call on for advice if I find bare wires.
