I have camlocks ready to install (8 all keyed the same), but in my usual messed up brain I am thinking there has to be a more genious way to do this.

So something like this; https://www.amazon.com/Homello-Elec...ds=electronic+cam+lock&qid=1617932610&sr=8-55

Problem is getting 8 all keyed for the same card. On top of that I would really like an option to hit a switch on the inside of the truck to disengage all the locks (or I could get crazy and have 8 switches to operate all locks separately.

i never knew these existed. those are neat.

im sure someone with some electronics experience could help you figure out a one switch cab option.
since the little fob is programmable to run multiple locks that makes it feasible at least. no need for a handful of fobs
Yea the wiring into cab and switch should be easy enough. That technology has been around awhile. Like when someone "buzzed" you in through a door at your job for example depending where you worked.

Completely unrelated, but I stumbled across this while searching Amazon.

I must find something or some reason to buy this.... hahaha

Then I can add to my bucket list to scream a cool battle cry, turn the key, smash the button, then something amazing happen.

Edit: Automatic tail gate dropper? lmao how funny would that be especially with no damper to slow it down. Yell, turn key, smash button, tail gate slams down. Christ I am a lunatic...

After you solve this puzzle, I like to see you be the first to install something like this...car jack deterrent... ?

Well, I think I found the solution;

https://www.amazon.com/HFeng-Electr...ll+electromagnetic+lock&qid=1617935097&sr=8-2

Will run about $130 for 8 of them. Will probably order 1 and test it (to see if the strength rating is accurate), if its a go I can get 7 more. Simple 2 wire system. 130lbs of locking force is more than enough for pods that are just thick poly anyhow.
Those use power to remain locked, unlock when no power. I’m guessing the normal state will be locked. Probably not something you want to use if you care about your battery.

Consider a universal door lock actuator. This can be installed to throw a simple rod to move a bolt closed. Think of how a safe works. These actuators are 2-wire reversing polarity. +/- moves the actuator one direction, -/+ moves the actuator the opposite direction. Often, this can be connected to the factory actuator.

Good point, may be a good excuse to go ahead and start piecing together my secondary battery bank and solar array.

Space inside my pods is at a premium, I had considered actuators, but they are too bulky.

The good news is even big door electromagnetic locks are very low power. I am curious what these smaller ones draw. Reading around on the internet they are likened to night lights you use in your kids room.
