Good Morning All -

I got a small rip on my leather passenger chair … from I HAVE NO IDEA ????

I’m so mad at myself .. I cleaned the leather when washing the truck yesterday and just noticed it.

It’s not a big rip, but I definitely don’t want it to continue on… anyone know if this would be covered under the FORD 3/36 warranty? If not .. (???) anyone else been through this and can help me … please, please, please. I’m freaking out!

Thanks -
Mack

Every car dealer in the country has a source for leather repair. The guy came to my house and fixed a cut in my Honda seat. Very reasonable, and nearly invisible.

That’s pretty clearly a cut and not a defect, so not likely a warranty repair. It’s leather, so it shouldn’t spread like cloth would and may not get any worse.
Thanks to both of you guys .. just was hoping others had rips before and had a fox or knew of a company that offers the fix. It’s a pretty expensive truck and has the upgraded leather .. don’t really want the rip and don’t trust too many of my local FORD dealers.

Google, "leather repair in my area" and you should find a few automotive seating specialists or upholsterers that can handle that repair. I would think that such a small tear could be done while U wait and be pretty cheap.

Hi Mack,

I do know that if you do not ask the dealer about the PDI guy using a knife, you will get nothing from the dealer. So ask them for help. Being Roush...did Roush recover the seats? If so, Maybe a Roush warranty issue?

best,
Phil

i would still enquire about warranty.
seats come wrapped in plastic...the PDI guy may be using a knife to remove it faster.
or its from manufacture and they missed it.

no harm in trying, but expect them to deny it...because we all know thats what they will do.

the fact its right near where a passengers nutsack would sit, they might try and say your passenger was careless itching his schweaty ballz. Then tell em' it is a female passenger, see what they say now...
That's exactly what it looks like to me- a box knife was used to cut off the plastic wrap from the mfr. or upfitter as @P. A. Schilke suggested.

Got to agree with Phil. It definitely looks like a razor cut. Something like that might take a while to notice, like the first time you wipe down the seats and say what the heck is this! Definitely make an inquiry as to reconciliation

I can't imagine anyone ever using a knife to remove plastic covers, I did more than a few PDI at Benz at least and never did we need anything to remove the protection quickly. The adhesive wrap on the exterior was always the pain.

Funny story, had one C class come in with one leather and one clothe seat. That model did not even have clothe in the USA.

How about a service advisor removing a dealer badge with a flathead screwdriver? I can, and did. ?

Relax…

It was not my Ranger - it was years ago and it was a Mazda MX6

That’s very helpful and might look into that with ROUSH. Wonder if I would just call the number on their website? I did have an independent ROUSH warranty for the flares, stickers, and exhaust. ?

Anyone else with any ideas? I will :

1. Check with dealer and just see if they will cover it.
2. Check with ROUSH and see if under different warranty.
3. Check with dealer and see if they have a guy for cheap to fix.

But anyone else have anything at all? Never happened to anyone else and they had a kit off Amazon or .. know of a good leather repair kit for cars?

i watched the guy do my Honda. There’s no way you could buy his tools for what it cost to repair the 4” slice in my seat.

I used a company I found on the web that replaced a leather seat cover in my F-150 a few years back. It matched perfectly. It’s called The Seat Shop. www.theseatshop.com. Maybe see if they can help you out?
