Took "Scabby" back to the dealer this morning so they could take care of the paint issues. Got a txt a couple hours later, "paint touch up is taken care of, but we can't find your key".

Apparently the dude doing the paint touch up just put the key on the counter instead of physically handing it to someone in the dealership like you're supposed to do ?. Anyway, it happens I get it, I work at a dealership and this happens from time to time, unfortunately. Not really bothered by it, no one died and my truck was still there lol and they're replacing the key obviously so all is good. Just thought it was humorous by the panic they had when I called them back lol

It's always something! I know it's an accident and not the end of the world but you'd think that they'd done this a hundred times and it would be natural by now. With that said I dropped my truck off one time for a tire repair. I left the wheel lock in the cup holder and forgot to check it when I got back in. You guessed it a couple days later it dawned on me and it wasn't there. Called the shop and of course they couldn't find it anywhere. They were nice and paid for a new one (good thing I registered it) but it would've been inconvenient if I needed it. I know there's ways around it but when you're on the road and not expecting it kind of puts a damper on your day. ?

 Maybe if you stop calling your truck "Scabby" you'll have better luck.?

I might think about having the security code changed an new keys made just in case someone pocketed the key with the thought of finding it later.

Maybe I'm just paranoid an need to put my tinfoil hat back on.

when i was a kid i worked for a body shop. i spent about 4 hours making this persons car look like it was ready for show, the customer had already picked it up before and came back with a complaint about stuff. so boss said deep detail it and park it out front. sun was shining on it and it sparkled like a diamond. lady shows up her and the boss walk around it while i hid and listened . she said it looked good and was happy. then asked for her keys...
he didnt have them.
i didnt have them.
they were not on the key "desk".
customer spotted the keys and turned karen. ?‍♀ in the ignition switch they dangled. guess who was last to touch the keys.
about 20 mins later a lock smith was opening her car.
?
boss took that right out of the check on friday lol
it was a circle of getting yelled at. customer chewed the bosses ass, then he got a chunk out of mine.

That's what was done, looks like they killed the old programing and programed 2 new keys cause when I got both keys back, they had new tags on them. I also asked if I can have my old key back if it miraculously reappears, and they said they would.
