some like gsg or ati was making a semi auto .22 lr mp5 look alike for a little while. it looked like fun for cans and targets but never got one.
I had a GSG when I was back in MA and it was a fun little .22. I bought a H&K HK416 .22 back in 2019 and added a suppressor to it. This one along with my S&W 15/22 is a lot of fun to shoot, will take anything without jamming and stupid accurate.

I had an extra brace in the safe so I added the shark fin brace. Here's what it looks like without the brace.

We moved from MD to DE in December of 2021. My partner was forced to retire due to corporate BS at the same time and her retirement tax situation is WAY better than it would be in MD. I'm able to keep my current job and work from home for the next few years, going in occasionally. We also bought a new construction house that we really love and are paying 1/4 the real estate tax. I celebrated by buying a Kimber Micro 9 at Cabela's and walking out with it in about 30 minutes. MD had a 7 day waiting period for handguns.

MD has some crappy gun laws. DE was relatively free, with the odd restriction that there's no NFA of any kind allowed. Although I've lusted for suppressors I don't own any, so that was OK.

MD made it very difficult to get a CCW permit, requiring a "good and substantial" reason. DE has 101 odd hoops to jump through, but is shall issue after said hoops. MD accepted Bruen and eliminated "good and substantial" a couple of weeks ago. They still have a bunch of other requirements in place. DE has not changed the process at all, yet.

I just received an email from a vendor I've purchased many gun items from. There's a link to sign a petition to stop the assault weapons ban here. Looks like they're trying to push this to vote as soon as the end of this month. I have a dummy email address for things like this so I used that one and an old landline phone number so I don't get spammed. I'd encourage everyone to sign it and pass it along as it wouldn't hurt to have as many signatures as possible.

What I found interesting is IF this goes through everything we have now will still be "grandfathered" so no ones coming knocking on your door for your stuff.

While this bill has a "grandfather" clause, allowing for the sale, transfer, or possession of restricted weapons and magazines lawfully possessed before the bill's passage, it would choke off the supply of these items and drive up the cost for future generations of peaceable individuals.

i wish the govt goobers would spend half this time, tax payer money and man power on enforcing the laws that exist and stopping crimes. Would it not be easier and cheaper to increase the punishment and enforcement for violent crime than banning objects that do not cause crime or violence. ahh poo. well all know this . wasted typing lol.

I've seen that too but they also don't allow you to "transfer" them. I don't know if that means you can't sell it or can't pass it on to your kids. This happened with the old full automatics when they passed the auto weapons ban in like 86. The value of pre ban weapons shot up like 20 times their price.

I remember that and I was living back in MA at the time. The pre bans went up like a rocket along with the 30 round mags.

If you look at the quote in my post above it does say "allowing for the sale, transfer, or possession of restricted weapons and magazines lawfully possessed before the bill's passage". It looks like they're going to try to squash any new sales which will put many companies out of business which was their plan all along.

i guess im not clear what is being banned. I mean assault weapons are 90 % in the hands of govt and law enforcement. The old NFA pre ban stuff is few and far between not to mention crazy high cost. So is it magazine capacity they are after now or folding stocks or guns that are black plastic clad or what ?

For starters the term assault guns is a magnum opus work of a logical fallacy creation.

At best it was a term used in a strictly military environment in reference to fully automatic rifles. In this case of anti-gun politicians (who have armed secured...) and the media it is an emotional plea to low information voters.

Coining semi-automatics as assault tier weapons is on par with claiming a 9mm blows the lungs out your back. Its all just smoke and mirrors because sadly there are a lot of really really dumb people who walk this planet and will believe any hearsay that someone vomits out period.

Also, if a child death is involved, that is like the ultimate exploitable opportunity for the fallacy kings to start waving their scepters around in the air to cast their magical power of dumbassery on the low IQ denizens.

Basically anything that's scary looking and they can blow out of proportion that it a "assault rifle". There's so many other calibers way more powerful than an AR. Dress them up in an old wood stock or plastic one and the media and sheep think they're safer. But don't you worry IF this goes through they'll be coming for all of those next!:stop:

My wife is fairly uneducated about guns. She can safely operate a weapon, barely, but weapon design and function is beyond her grasp.

When I explained to her that my .556 AR is not even legal to hunt deer with in Colorado because the caliber is too small, and that in many states my modified 10/22 would count as an "assault weapon" she was quite surprised.

They've done a pretty good job of scaring people. We need to do an equally good job of educating them.

Exactly! The first time Annie saw the inside of my safe and all my AR's she was kind of freaked out, she's a city girl. lol Then I showed her a picture of a regular .223 rifle without all the armor on it and she said 'It looks like just a regular rifle". BINGO!

An even bigger mislabeling is "weapons of war". If that were to pass every gun ever carried into combat at some point would be subject to banning. The standard 6 shot revolver was carried into conflict before being replaced by the 1911. It's 7 shot mag isn't "high compacity" by their current definition but since it's a weapon war ban it. The ship I was on had 12 ga shotguns for close quarters defense of boarders so guess it's a weapon of war.

I want to say they were savage but I never qualified on them. I was quilled on the M14 an 1911 .45. This was in '83 an we got the worn out hand me downs from the marines. All those weapons were probably replaced when they phased in the Beretta 9 mm's. On my last sea tour in 93-95 the watch duty I stood didn't involve long weapons I was only recertified on the 1911. I will always have a 1911 for sentimental reasons but I don't like the way the have to be taken apart an put together when you clean them. I struggle with that stupid pin in the barrel link that moves when I'm trying to put it together. My Sig P226 is such a superior weapon but I wasn't a seal so I didn't carry one while in.
