I didn't see this problem brought up here, but I could have missed it.

I have tried two different gas pumps and both have shut off multiple times while trying to fill gas. I followed the instructions on the filler hatch, shoved in ATW, and level. I'm only at 300 miles or so on an XLT.

Any solution to this? Thanks. Roly

How many times have you filled your tank in 300 miles. Mine will go 400 miles on one tank fill.

In my experience it's a pump problem--there's one pump near me that does it, none others. For the one with the issue, if I hold the pump pushed in straight, it will work fine. Mostly I just use a different pump.

I filled it at less than 1/2 empty to try the capless arrangement out. Next time, still less than 1/2 empty, to see if a different pump would work. Didn't bother filling it the second time, as i didn't want to take the time.

It was brought up not long ago in the link below. If it happens at every pump it looks like you could have a kinked vent hose. If it's at one certain station it could just be their pumps. I haven't had this happen with my Ranger but it has happened before with my F 150's and it was just the pump I was at.

mostly i find its a particular pump. the only thing that changes it is to either fill slower or pull the nozzle out a bit. its likely not the trucks fault.
not sure if you have that vapor recovery system on the pumps or not

my worst experience was the coily wire along the nozzle got stuck inside my filler. took me about five minutes of massage to work it out of the hole.
I hate when that happens. :giggle::lipssealed:
