I pack a CT125 on a hitch carrier...in case I get stuck or just to get around when RTT camp is spread out...I'm 6' and it's very comfortable...it's not for any road over 50mph but great on trails...

With full load I get around 18-19 highway and 16-17 city...
That is an awesome setup. I have rural roads but very hilly. Can it maintain speed uphill? It's 55mph but out here people drive below the speed limit typically.

Motorcycle not a bad idea. Been using 93 since day one with FP tune. Min recommended 91 but nit available here. 93 grade here now at $4.20/gal. At least I can default back to stock tune to run 87 at last resort
I’d die for $4.20 a gallon. In my area … $5.19-$5.39 a gallon ?

Request: When posting fuel economy numbers, please include the rear diff axles ratio and wheel and tire size and tuned or not tuned.

I have the FX4 package with 4.10 locking diff option and (summer) 20" wheels with 275/55R20 tires.
Also, have the Ford Performance tune. With all this I can barely get 16 to 17 mpg on a steady freeway cruse.

Wondering how these items affect the MPG verses configurations... I'm sure it's not in a good way...
4.10?

I'm getting 13.3MPG with 87 octane with a 3.5" front lift and 1" back. I'm sitting on LT285/70R17 with a overlanding tent and bed rack. I have 10k miles on the truck and drive mostly highways at 70. Took it to the closest dealership and they said there was nothing wrong with it. Said I should take it back to the dealership I bought it from because I purchased it with those tires on it and maybe they can adjust the computer for the different tire size. I have friends driving on 34's and getting 19mpg. I dont get it. I drive it like a baby and still terrible gas mileage!

One thing I've learned is for some reason humans love to cherry pick MPG and lie their ass off to others about it. That or they drive 5-10 MPH under the speed limit or accelerate up a hill while slowly dropping speed, then proclaim how awesome the MPG is.

Cliff Notes: Pretty much unrealistic driving scenarios by the average persons driving habits.

Adjusting the tire size in the computer won't fix anything but speedometer reading. There is a reason these trucks have such lighter tires and aggressive front rake from the factory. Don't forget the big plastic air dam lip on the bottom. All designed for fuel efficiency. Start stripping those things out, adding racks, RTT's, more weight and you truly see how still inefficient a car engine is.

My truck has the aerodynamics of a brick on wheels at this point.

I also use a 93 tune, keep it in trailer mode 100% of the time and lock out to gears 1-7 when not on the highway 100% of the time. Locking the gears out actually increased my MPG...

Gears 8 ,9, and 10 are absolute trash for non-highway roads.
