That does not sound like a factory alarm, sounds like a dealer aftermarket alarm they install and try to upsale you on. Others have found these and they have usually hacked up the factory wireing haress to install. If its worthy anywhere near $700 why would they just disable it and leave it installed?

You may be right they said factory, but I will check and see if I can find anything.

Every factory alarm I've ever heard just used the horn
if they leave the horn on it I'd trace the wires back an see if they spliced into the wiring. I'd try to check it before buying it an have it fixed to factory

Hi everyone, I’m new to the whole Forescan scene, let alone new to owning a Ranger. I got mine about 3 months back and wanted to add some cool features via forescan. Well after doing some research on my car I realized the previous owner (who I have no contact with let alone know who it is) put a 93 tune the truck. Well when I went to plug in forescan it didn’t read the PCM, and after finding the number of the PCM I re-entered it into forescan and got a error code that reads “Unable to Identify Vehicle. Please contact the developers”. My friend informed me that the PCM is locked and forescan can’t access it. I don’t have access to the exact tuner that the previous owner had, which is where the stock files of the truck are I’m guessing. My question to y’all is, is there anything I can do to fix said problem, I know the PCM number is correct, and also I’ve seen other people access forescan with a tune. I appreciate you all reading this and hope to hear soon

I have not tunned myself but many others on here have, and I know there are quite a few posts about Tune and Forscan sometimes blocking access. Hopefully someone can lead you in the right direction. I suggest searching through the forum, in the meantime while waiting for post. I know it's here.

I think you may have Ford Tune, this appears to be the one that creates issues.
You might try, deleting current profile (ForScan) and creating a new one, this will run another module search, I think. However, I'm new to Ranger and ForScan myself so I've only played with ForScan very little. It is nice to change things (mods) and cheap at that

Are you using the Free Version or Extended License Version? I think the Free Version has limitations. Plus, may sure you have latest release and the new recommended adapter (OBD-Link EX) some have had issues with the older (Switch) version

Depending on the year of your vehicle as well that might cause issues. Make sure you are running the most current version of ForScan. When I bought my truck in 2019, it took a while before it was recognized by ForScan. I know subsequent years have had the same issue at times.

The advice of deleting the profile and having it re-create it is a good one as well.

FORScan worked pretty well on my 2021 XLT! I didn't do much with it though.

I’m on the extended license which is weird why I’m getting the error.

I don’t think it’s a ford tune, it might be but when I tested it I was making 22psi and 375ft lbs of torque, so I know it’s a 93 tune just don’t know where the physical tuning device is.

You articulated the issue well, I think. The issue, IMHO, is the existing unidentified tune. To make forscan changes to my vehicle I need to load the factory tune. After the forscan change I then reinstall the tune. Question--did you purchase it from a Ford dealer? @DangerRanger2020

I did not, got it used at a Toyota Dealership. It pisses me off because they didn’t disclose that there was a tune, and I'm more than certain that they knew. And what sucks more is they can’t disclose the previous owner to contact to get the physical tuner. Furthermore to replace the PCM is rather expensive.
