I'm a Ford fan as I have had great ownership experiences from every Ford that I purchased new and from most of my used ones. Even the ones that had been beat on pretty hard from the previous owners. As of late I am still driving a 1991 Ranger to work most days with 330k and just replaced the alternator and radiator/water pump last year. I've got my $$ worth from that old girl. The 2020 ranger replaced a '07 F-150 KR with 220k that was great. Even replaced the plugs at 190k and they did not break off ,lol.

With that being said I'm a bit concerned with Ford's attitude and QC over the last few years. A friend at work told me yesterday his dealer was giving him grief over some issue with his 2023 Bronco because his engine had dirt on it. Good grief , it's a BRONCO !

After the issues with my ranger I will never own a ford product again (not mentioning all the problems my parents have had with their vehicles, and my old focus with the dct. My family also traded in their leases and are no longer with ford either. My plan is to sell the truck in no more than 3 years and never look back.

i would have a totally different outlook on things if ford dealers would work with and for customers instead of against. Simply put the lack of trustworthy predictable warranty issues has soured me. I like the 5g a lot. I want to love it. But mine has less 30k miles and has no warranty to speak of. That is not fair to customers. Esp when it is issues ford and ford dealers are aware of. Simple things like the op's issue that could have been solved with 40 dollars worth of plastic being shoved off on the customer is beyond petty. if his truck was 20 years old or had 100k plus on the clock sure - out of luck.

Not a snowballs chance in hell of me ever buying another Frontier. ? Or Nissan period. Talk about a manufacturer truly not giving a shit. But as others have said every manufacturer can have issues. Likewise some dealers are better than others.

But bottom line you need to be happy. Glad the Nissan is making you so. Best of luck with your truck. It is nice looking. Hope it treats you well for many miles.
Thanks for wishes ?

Also wanted to let the moderators on this forum know, that this forum is so much better operated than the anti 1st amendment, snowflake one I have to deal with for the Frontier forum ?‍♂.

I personally think ALL car manufacturers, or any manufacturer, are just making garbage nowadays. The ICE is on its last leg towards the push for EVs. I will not give in willingly to the EV at this point. But eventually we all will have to if that’s all that’s available. Until then thread lightly and see u around ?

This area is one of my planned prevention mods:

1. Cover the Air Inlet Door - Intake under the cowl with a screen, rodent prevention

2. Come up with a added drainage, trough / tube for the area where it drips down on the engine, won't need anything fancy, just redirect it down and away from the intake manifold, if it is only the one spot - then a simple small funnel and vacuum hose.
I plan on looking into this issue soon, out of curiosity if my truck also does this.

Initial Thoughts: For Trough - Want it to look good appearance wise.

A piece of PVC Pipe
Vac Elbow
Funnel
I think I remember somebody applying sealant in this area as well

I would much rather attempt to eliminate the problem than deal with the hassle of the plug down the road, I did install the engine cover, but if I still have water dripping down even on the cover, I think it would be better to just let the water do its thing and drip, just to another location.

Just needs a closer look, and determine how to keep the water from getting under the plastic cover, or just reroute the drip

Mine is still currently running great, but all the recent issues combined with some good offers from Vroom/Carvana/Driveway have gotten me kinda looking for an older Frontier.

After my 2018 Pro4X I have Zero interest in one of the newer ones.

If I can find a 2011-2015 Pro4X extra cab for the right price and miles, I may jump ship.

OP, enjoy your Taco. You have to spend your money on what makes you happy.

Nothing worse than looking at a vehicle you hate every day (ie, my 2018 Pro4X).

Edit: I need to point out that my concerns are not about the issues as all machines can have issues. My concern is Ford's tepid response to these issues, especially when they are well known.

Whether the response is due to Ford or the dealer, at the end of the day the word Ford is branded on the vehicle and that's where the blame will rest.

I also had a '75 Cosworth Vega. I see that the air injection plumbing is gone just like mine was.

IMO all they had to do is cover each spark plug... like my 1975 Cosworth Vega engine. The sparkplug bores are like 4 inches deep but the cap on the wires plug them up water tight... skip the cover...

The 2015-2017 F150s with the 2.7 had the cowl leak issue as well but those almost always had engine covers. I'd find a puddle of water on top the engine cover all the time on my truck.

My father in law works there, and he has informed me that it is the worst company he has ever worked for. He started at the same time I bought the ranger.
Wait a minute.

Your father-in-law works at the dealership and they still won't help you?

You're doing something wrong. And it's not with your truck.

with that being said, for their price point I think it’s the most substantial truck on the market anymore. But that’s like comparing turds in a toilet. Some are better than others but they still a turd.

He’s a car salesman that has feathers for nuts. They don’t care what he has to say. This is his last week there anyways.

I don't even know what that means.

But I'm betting there's a lot more to this story.

what story? I’ve never even met any of these folks since I bought the fucking truck. They wouldn’t even do the free oil change for me. I’ve talked to these cock suckers 1 time on the phone. That’s it. I’ve never been there since buying.
Several of the employees got caught selling meth and there is a million other horror stories about the place.

have you ever been to southern appalachia? Nobody gives a shit about anything but drugs around here. They could care less about a truck.

Like I said.

"A lot more to this story."

I'd pack that Taco up and move if that's the case.
