every manufacturer has problems come and go. its how they handle them that makes the difference... esp when they know it is an issue and hose customers on purpose. until that changes ill stand by my never buying another new ford statement. this is just one of a few 5g issues that ford is well aware of and seems to be doing the normal of push it off on customers and then not cover warranty items. so one could make a cogent argument that its dealers - not ford. fair enough. but to customers dealers are ford. so piss on ford.

When Ford when to the 3 valve head on the Triton...the best the designers could do for the spark plug was three threads in the cylinder head....And the Engine Engineering management went with this as being okay. I just shook my head...not a good decision in my opinion...

Ford is certainly capable of making foolish decisions.

best,
Phil
We all have to remember that this is the same manufacturer that went to circle the answer to the problem and messed up the circle

So I have a 2021 Ranger. Are you guys buying a cover for the engine? I think I would like to get one. Anyone suggest a source for one besides dealer?

Thanks!

Haven't posted here in almost two years. I ended up with a 22 Nissan Frontier. While I did enjoy the comradery on this site, I had an EXTREMELY poor experience with my first dealer after my ordered vehicle was damaged by them during their vehicle prep work. After waiting almost 6 months, I was very upset. Friendly Ford in Roselle, Illinois can go pound sand IMO!

I ended up ordering another Ranger (pending another 6 month wait) at a different dealership. In the mean time, I test drove a 2022 Nissan Frontier and fell in love with the simplicity of the V6. The ride was more 'truck like', had a fresh modern look, but still was old school enough for me to do some basic maintenance with ease. I ended up getting a decent deal. Car market at that time was still nutz, but I actually got a better deal than what Ford was offering. I purchased the Frontier, and cancelled the second Ranger order.

I do miss some of the folks here who were extremally helpful, but I have moved on to greener pastures. I do recommend the Frontier over the Ranger, but again, that's my opinion. Wish everyone luck with their rides. Hope to see some of you out on the road one day. ;)

I have a hard time believing the two Chevys went that long without replacing the transmissions.......
They were both being hauled by a Ford.

yes, but it's still ford being asshats, since this is a known problem that won't be found unless someone tries to remove a spark plug while the warranty is active. if they instructed dealers to preemptively look for the problem then they wouldn't be asshats, but it would require a level of GAF that ford doesn't seem to have.
As I have established I am 100% a card carrying Ford fanboy. But you my friend are correct.

Sucks.

It’s a shame. They should have covered it under some customer satisfaction budget. I would be very angry. Sorry you are experiencing this.

unless one has the engine cover, water runs down into the spark plug area, with the hood closed, normal rain etc. thread around here some place about it.
Man, it seems that 10 minutes of running the engine would evaporate the water. This is crazy.

Not a snowballs chance in hell of me ever buying another Frontier. ? Or Nissan period. Talk about a manufacturer truly not giving a shit. But as others have said every manufacturer can have issues. Likewise some dealers are better than others.

But bottom line you need to be happy. Glad the Nissan is making you so. Best of luck with your truck. It is nice looking. Hope it treats you well for many miles.

id guess it depends on how far one goes after a carwash or rain etc. One could be parked overnight in a heavy rain giving plenty of time for the water to collect. if being driven id think most water would be cooked off as well.
