Sure is a lot of talk about warranty and install registration and liability and such. Is this all still an issue if going 3rd party, say Livernois? I mean if one is willing to take a chance, why not go elsewhere with a tune with more options?

With a third party tune you are taking the risk if a catastrophic engine failure were to occur the repairs may not be covered by your warranty.

There is an old hot rodders saying; "if you want to play you must be willing to pay".

That being said I have been driving turbo 4cyl vehicles continuously since 1985 and all of them have been tuned. In all most 3/4 of a million miles I have never had a turbo or internal engine failure.

Nice! I didn't confirm the warranty issue with them but I can't imagine it not qualifying. It's Galpin owned, I bought my truck at Galpin. That would be insane.

I'm going to wait till about 2500 miles on my truck first just to make sure everything is in good working order, change to full synthetic then go for the tune...I just got it a couple weeks ago.

Will be interested to hear how it goes, I want to install the Ford Performance Exhaust as well at the same time.

I installed it myself (2021 with 4k miles). I then took it to my local Ford dealer next one being 45 miles away and they wrote a repair order to make it look like they installed it. Total cost $75. Warranty safe.
Ne er trust that dealer they are thieves. Check other dealers and see what they would charge. No more than 1 hour labor at their going rate. 75 to 135. I so cal maybe 155 or so. I know as I worked for dealers for 42 years and now I am happily retired

What dealer would write that repair order?? I'd rather do it myself and leave it at that then have a forged repair order. Maybe (definitely actually, with your 42 years) you know someone there and it's legit but I wouldn't ask a random dealer to write me a fake repair order for $75.

We know we can do it ourselves and how simple it is. Agreed $175 is too expensive but if they quoted me $120 I'd call that pretty fair. So an extra $55 to be fully legit, that's how the cookie crumbles. It's also added assurance for me since I bought my truck at the same location.

I have the tuner in hand. Going rate at Ford dealer is between 450 and 500 dollars. Crazy for what they actually do.

The price seems reasonable for a dealer install. Shop rate will dictate the cost. I had the Ford Racing tune, CAI and low restriction air cleaner plus the cooler spark plugs installed at Hillbank Motors, Irvine. They are the Shelby, Superformance dealer (Ford GT, Cobra etc.). Dropped it off before lunch and had the vehicle back later that afternoon.
This was done on a Ford Focus ST and they had to cut a hole in the fascia behind the grill to install the CAI. Installation was perfect you couldn't tell it was there from the outside. However, you could tell it was there when you stepped on the gas. Sorry not apples to apples but the install experience was excellent. Total cost was about $800 as I recall.

That price is not reasonable! It's an easily accessible connection to upload the tune and it's quick. We've found Galpin Motor Sports in Van Nuys willing to do it for $175.

I did. The mechanic on the phone confirmed the warranty is covered. I ran through all of the issues that have been discussed. Satisfied with the answers and cost of install
