Just saw this today in the markets. Meanwhile Ford is down to $10 a share from a high of about $14.5 in July. It says 'cut warranty costs' not necessarily improve quality, but presume that's the goal

01:37 PM EST, 12/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Ford Motor (F.NaE) is set to appoint a new head of quality to reduce recalls and cut warranty costs, Reuters reported Wednesday.

Control of the quality team will be transferred from Jim Baumbick to a new, yet-to-be-named leader, while Baumbick will focus on overseeing electric vehicle programs, Reuters said.

The shift, announced to certain Ford employees last week, is set to take effect early next year, the report said.

Restructuring will help teams collaborate more effectively to deliver high-quality vehicles and software, a Ford spokesperson said, according to Reuters.

Ford didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.

Not sure who would want to walk into that job!

You think they had EV problems before. You can't even make that stuff up. By the way I am from Ford and am here to help.

Not to worry about Ford's stock price. It has fluctuated around $10-$12 for years. Ford has paid an excellent dividend for years. This is because the Ford family is the largest single stock holder and that dividend is their largest source of income.

Warranty. Let's hope someone can do something. Ford needs Alan Mulally or his clone. Warranty claims are costing Ford Billions every year, money that could be used much better elsewhere.

I'm assuming this guy's first order of business is to reach out to every single 10r80 owner to personally apologize and offer to install a new CDF bushing himself?

I'll be waiting by the phone....

Wouldn’t that be something! Then they would have to admit an issue though!

Well, the last time they cut warranty cost... really meant they reduced the labor times on the warranty repairs, so the tech working on your bad transmission, or whatever, took the brunt of the cost cutting.

But that was the late 90's, hopefully they have a different strategy now.
