Once you walk out of the showroom with the sales contract in your hand there is no way the dealer is going to know where you go with it or even if you still own it. If they did know that information you got a very nice lawsuit to move forward with. That would be tracking property they do not own and invasion of privacy just for starters!

I'm sure if you signed an agreement not to sell for x amount of time there's something in the fine print stating they can check the DMV records or some BS.

I've said this to many times but it's no ones fault but the buyers that this continues to happen. Keep throwing your money away on all these dumb ADM's and they (the dealers) will keep adding them. I'd love to see what the idiots who bought their Broncos with high markups now think. Spending $10K-$20K just to have one last year when now you can find many at MSRP. Plus the used car market is somewhat stabilized so they can't get the crazy resale prices that were around a year ago. The used market is still high but no way they're recouping that $20K they overpaid for a Bronco. lol

Well if they get their way with the latest budget request the car market will implode on itself. Repo’s will be at epic levels and the new car market will be so stagnant that they’ll be offering free ice cream for a year if you come to a showroom ?

As for dealers charging whatever price they want... I feel that the dealers have an agreement with the manufactures to be "brand ambassadors" and excess markup is bad for the brand image when most people feel the price should be at or close to MSRP. There are cars with markup over 50% the MSPR, that is stupid and, IMO so are those buyers that pay that. I also feel that if someone is going to complain about price markups, they should not expect any discounts below MSRP. I've bought 3 new vehicles and paid MRSP each time. I don't feel like wasting the time haggling for under, when I'm online shopping I'm looking at MSRP for budget and comparison between the options I have.

As for the dealer requiring a contract: If they require it and you sign it in agreement, and they find you in breach of that contract there can be legal/financial consequences. Freedom part some are crying about being violated was the freedom to walk away from the contract, once you freely choose to enter into that contract, they have the right to follow up on it for the term on the contract.

We should ask John Cena, he knows all about this. Unfortunately, just like ADM and flipping, the answer is always $$$ ?
I hadn't heard about that. But it reminds me of the house raffles for charity. You could buy a ticket for $100 in for a chance to win a house valued at $400K. One stipulation to winning was that you couldn't sell the house for two years. Depending on where you live and your income, the property taxes could be more than one could afford.

Simple really.
Don't sign a contract if you don't like the legally binding terms.

I don't agree with this at all. Ford is letting their dealers markup their vehicles when they said many times dealers would be penalized for doing so. So far...Nothing! So now they want to penalize the customer if they turn around and flip certain vehicles for a profit? Now I agree doing this to someone who's a broker but a customer should be able to sell if they want to. I was asked a series of questions from one of my local dealers here when I inquired about getting on the list for the Ranger Raptor. He wanted to make sure I was going to keep it and not flip it as they sell everything for MSRP but never asked if I'd sign anything. But certain dealers were asking customers to sign a contract stating they wouldn't sell. If they refused, they'd have to pay and additional $20K. ? A little hypocritical wouldn't ya say?:shock:

Buying hot vehicles at sticker price then selling the vehicles to people who can't get to the dealer fast enough is just another of many ways for rich folks with ready piles of cash buyup things then resell at fat profits, to folks who are not rich. Probably a little easier than buying up homes then renting them to people who can't afford to buy a home because the rich have formed up corporations to parasitize the market at the expense of average people.
Good luck getting a ticket to a concert at the price asked by the venue. The GSRP (Greedy Stingy Rich Pigs) have their computers buy all the tickets to then sell to normal people at grossly inflated prices.
If Ford can do something to reduce or eliminate this practice of driving up prices for those who need a vehicle to actually drive, use, and enjoy, they have my vote. Another solution would be to make enough of the vehicles to ensure no shortages. The greedy would then shift their practices to another area of the economy.

I agree. But they've all said they're keeping production low so they can keep prices high. They've now seen that many will overpay for their product so they can now make more money selling less units. In a way I can't blame them who doesn't want to work less and make more? This is again all on the consumer and if they'd stop paying these high prices and ridiculous markups dealers would be forced to bring them down. Just like the housing market has been for many years.
