I'm soon to be a real member of the forum who actually has a Ranger instead of just a lurker. More than $10,000 less than a Tacoma, more payload, more towing capacity, more comfortable and more get up and go. Just e-signed the paperwork and I pick it up in a couple of weeks. Thanks Forum Members!

Depends on if you are getting the 'new' vehicle ESP, which is purchased before the OEM warranty expires, or the 'used' vehicle ESP, which starts after the OEM warranty expired. The 'used' vehicle ESP will be quite higher in price.
At any rate, Grainger beats everyone on price. And for the love of all things holy, DO NOT go with a third party such as Car Shield. They are in hot water with the FTC for denying claims.
ahhh makes sense. under consideration should my hot box and tranny not fade away next year

I figured this would be a hot topic because of all the transmission problems the guys keep talking about. I thought I might offer my OPINION on the subject. When I bought my '21 brand new and heard it had a 10 speed automatic transmission... I felt I should get some sort of extended warranty, as I plan to keep it well past 100,000 miles and also do some towing with it. There are SO many service plans out there...all different kinds and prices, but I decided to go with Ford ESP, only because I did automotive service writing for many years and one of the main advantages of the manufacturers program is that ANY Ford dealer....ANYWHERE... HAS to accept it.... and there is usually a Ford dealer in any good sized town. A big problem I ran into with aftermarket warranty companies was that if the customer was travelling somewhere out -of-town...and the vehicle needed a repair...it was probably covered, but I ran into complaints from people who said the local "shop" they took the car to wouldn't deal with an extended warranty company, or wanted to install used parts... or wanted the customer to pay them full price for the repairs.....then submit the bill for reimbursement later. This.... combined with all the other electronic "gadgets" this car has..... made me go with the Ford plan. Now, I'm not saying other plans aren't worth it...there are many good service contracts available out there, just examine them closely for what they DO cover ...restrictions and requirements {if any} to keep the plan in force...and finally...cost. Ford ESP is expensive. I bought it with the truck, and I got the Premium Plan with the most coverage, for the most mileage.... but I think it was about $4500 dollars. { It's hard to say...dealers "wrap" everything together at sale time}. There are plenty of good warranty companies out there...just do your research, and pick the one that suits your future needs best, compared to the cost of the plan. I, myself, would recommend one... those trannies aren't cheap !!

Welcome and awesome about the Grainger ESP. I never bought an ESP untile the Ranger. And I have an XL but same electronics and big bucks for any of it.

Post lots of pics and get ahead of the game by ordering you damper and 303 Graphene now! =D

One reason I bought my Ranger is I also own an Escape. I feel that the Ranger is more or less a pick up Escape. Same engine and an upgraded transmission. The Escape trans has most of the same problems as the Ranger. I have 120K on the Escape Without any problems. I change all of my fluids often. I put a larger pan with a drain plug on the trans and am going to do the same on the diffs. I just changed the trans fluid at 30K And will be changing diff fluid in the next month. I’m trying prevention rather than esp. prey for me!

Good on your Edge, but I don't think a 2.0L with 8sp FWD can be considered similar to a Ranger' drivetrain.

So, I finally decided to purchase an extended warrantee, after going on the Granger and Flood extended warrantee website, I found out that I could not purchase from them because I live in California (California law). States I have to buy a plan in California, anybody know of a company to purchase from other than getting ripped off at a dealer?

The reason for buying a Ford was because I didn't like the GM's transmissions, now that Ford is going through the same issues, maybe I should trade my 2022 in on the new Colorado? The Ranger has been a great truck so far, love everything about it, now just need an extended warrantee to last me a few more years!

I've had zero issues on my 23' albeit still with less than 5,000 miles on it after 12 months - but if you read forums online, much like anywhere, you will read about this problem or that problem.

I don't think there is a single automobile manufactured that doesn't have problems in its inventory. You can find videos online of even luxury hyper-cars will find fit and finish problems on $500,000 pricetag.

All of my issues has been nothing-burgers. For instance, for months on end the in-car compass just didn't work, then one day it was fixed (probably over the air update). Of course you have those people, "I paid $50,000 I expect it to be perfect" - which is their right to complain, but me? woopdedoo...

I have not had any serious problems with the Ranger yet but only 15,000 on it. I am meticulous about servicing the truck and also have the Ford ESP warranty thru Granger. I plan to keep it under warranty as long as I own it and that should cover any unknowns. I would keep any modern vehicle under warranty regardless of the model considering the high cost of repairs for the later technology. I'm taking it in for "the works" next week and will question the Service Manager about what they've been doing to take care of and fix these 10R80 tranny problems.

You guys would cringe at me, I am modifying a leased truck. However to clarify the lease was only because rates where such shit at the time even with 800+ score and I plan to buy out the truck regardless. Either the rates will be better after 2 more years or they won't when I finance the remaining balance.

Hell Ive even sold off OEM parts I didn't need anymore haha

I do miss the 0% APR I had on my Ranger for sure.
