Hey everyone, just wanted to get some level headed opinions here. I paid to have a shop install fender flares and it appears that most of the “feet” aren’t adhering to the body. Some even still have the blue tape on them that should’ve been peeled off so that the double sided tape could adhere. It’s pretty obvious that the instructions weren’t followed. They probably didn’t use the adhesion promoter, abs so these are probably just hanging by the push pins in the wheel well. Haven’t got a call back from the shop. What seems fair?

What brand are the flares? Are they the Air Design fender flares?

What‘s fair is, “We shouldn’t have taken this on - it’s beyond our skill set - we‘ll refund you 100% - again, we’re sorry”.

That’s not likely going to happen. At least two members here have installed these. Maybe @Msfitoy or @Mirage775 will chime in on this thread.

Yeah, I really should’ve done these myself. They’re for sure tedious but not difficult. Now I need new hardware and to find a way to unstick the few pieces that actually did adhere. ?

From what I understand about the process, you might be able to salvage things. I think Mirage775 had to redo a couple of mounts. You could try a search by member posting or checkout their build threads for details but it might be best to wait for them to reply with some specifics.

They both seem like good folks. Well, at least Jason does. ;)

You can search my SEMA build thread, until I can get home and find the pics, but they were tedious to install and a PITA to remove! If a shop Installed them correctly, they would almost be glued to the truck!

If you tore up your flares, mine are removed and intact?

You can buy the "feet", to reinstall mine.

Well, they aren’t torn up yet. Just thinking ahead. Appreciate the offer. I’ll keep that in mind.

You really can't tear up the actual flares, since they unscrew from the super sticky feet. If you look carefully at the Air Design site, you'll see the feet kit to install everything correctly.

I have those...even with the best of personal installation following instructions, some of the bolts came loose after a few years...and no I don't do Baja...I reached out to AD and they sent me a dozen or so bolts for free and this time I took extra care to thoroughly clean the paint with Acetone and applied generous 3M adhesive promoter...very critical...I fixed all the loose bolts but have discovered a couple that I either I didn't catch or failed later and will have to do that this summer...I ordered a complete bolt set so I have plenty for this exercise in the future...

If you have the patience to go through my build link below, you'll find pics of me fixing the bolts...

Both good guys!

I love that your build thread is 105 pages long and has a Table of Contents. :like::rockon::clap:
