If you use Goggle and Yelp in the same sentence, you should know they are polar opposites.
yelp is all about buying good placement, Google is not. Here is a example: yelp will eliminate your 5 star reviews if you do not pay them- it is possible that they do not work like that any longer. Yelp finally gave up on me except for their once a year high power sales person attempting once again to convince me of their worth. Google will not operate like that. Furthermore it is illegal both in National law and in goggles by laws that any use of non original reviews can and will get you kicked of their platform. But clearly what do I know?- as I only have spent the last 20 years in very close considerations with both companys. Google means a great deal to me as real clients will contact you from their/your site. Yelp means next to nothing. Google has Add words, which is a worm hole, but being there as a paying customer does NOT influence the organic search, that I could ever prove. I do recognize there are people out there who know more about this than me.

The very tricky part is they can and do change practices regularly, except for buying reviews which is NOT allowed.
Sorry but in this world now you can buy just about anything with enough money. 💰

You're not supposed to buy votes either and we all know that never happens.

I do not know anyone who has sold their vote.
Nor do I know of anyone selling their google reviews. Not sayin it does not happen in either case.
AS a retailer or service person, loosing Google could spell the end.

Oh I believe you don’t, my only point was it does happen and I’m sure it has there without your knowledge. :) I’d bet smaller companies don’t do this but I’d wager larger ones do. It’s a moot point and I’m not trying to be argumentative about it but money (and favors) buys a lot of things now. I know this personally first hand in politics from a dear long time friend. She’s well “connected” in the political field (40+ years) and has told me stories that would make your head explode and this pertains to both crooked parties. :explode:

It's so easy to steal an identity and make fake reviews appear real. The companies are offshore and can make the connection appear to be in your neighborhood. Using AI and databases of people, personal information, web history, and friends it's easy to tailor reviews. I definitely would never depend on reviews for anything at this point. There are many people in this world that will do anything for US dollars or crypto. The old days the Better Business Breau was the best source for information that was accurate and local. Now it's all based on a nickname on the internet. If you're local should be easy to find customers that have used the business for their opinion. From the video compared to actual experiences posted here along with TSBs I wouldn't let that guy touch my truck.

As a side note my video editing program just added AI voice swap. I just need a couple of sentences recorded as a wave file from anyone to teach it their voice and then I can actually swap their voice accurately for mine in a video in seconds. That's getting scary as I could record you on a phone call and then duplicate your voice accurately. AI is getting scary smart, easily accessible, and fast.

There's all these AI chatbots taking over too. I noticed this gradually happening back in 2020 and now they're everywhere in the comments especially the political articles. Their names have hundreds (sometimes thousands) of fake past posts to make it look like they have a posting history. Now it's getting easier to spot them because they're the ones with all the negative comments about everything that's going on here and in the world. I guess they're trying to sway people into changing their political views. So be careful you're most likely chatting/arguing with a Bot.
