Extended Length Rear Shocks after Leaf Spring Lift? Mine Aren’t (Eibach).

I have Icon multi leafs on ‘stage 2’ (there’s an extra spring you can put on for more weight, lift, called ‘stage 3’). This gave me at least an inch, inch and a half rear lift.

I have Eibach Pro Truck rear shocks, which I’m realizing (after many trips) only accommodate 1” of lift. My Icons leafs provided more than that.

I’m about to get that last leaf installed to eliminate an inch of sag when fully loaded. I’m scrambling now to learn how severe a problem I might face.

There’s not a lot of extended travel shocks it seems. Also unclear if this is more a problem during ‘droop’ or under heavy load, or with no load and max leaf spring lift.

Thoughts?

Extended length shocks for this size lift will only come into play during the droop portion of travel. Their neutral position will be off and could slightly impact ride quality but that’s it. You are safe to drive like a sane person on road for a week or so until you get new ones in. Bilstein 5100 accommodates a lift.

I used these

after swapping stock springs for ARB / OME ARB 1-418-EL12 with added carrying capacity and 1" lift, plus the BDS 1" Shackle lift. Though called "standard travel", they have plenty of travel. I dont think I have ever fully compressed or extended them, even at extreme angles. They fit very nicedly.

Look at the specs of the Icon rear shocks they match to their own springs: 0-1.5" lift no matter which flavor.

Rock crawling you can lift a wheel slowly which is wayyyy different than lifting a wheel fast, or jumping like a baja truck so both drop to full travel at high speed. Unless you're doing that you're probably fine with a 1.0" lift shock. If you're in doubt get a 1.5" Icon or equivalent.
