To cut to the chase, the tire shop I had install my wheel tire combo told me after installation and after I returned to the shop after experiencing extreme vibration at 60-70mph that I have in excess of 70ft-lbs of road force on the rear tires and it should be 0 optimally. They took it back said they re-seated the tires on the rims and inflated them to only 35 psi whereas they inflated them to 40psi originally.

I need to hear some experiences with new wheels and tires. I made an online purchase of wheels, tires and a 2” leveling kit that I installed myself. I had a front end alignment done, the tires mounted on the new wheels and balanced all perfectly they said. I hit the highway at about 60 to 70mph and it vibrates excessively. I am not an experienced 4X4 driver, but I am almost positive this is not a to be expected result. Road noise is one thing but this seems like a tread mismatch or defect? Or did I just choose a bad setup config? Or is it the leveling kit changing the suspension dynamics and shifting the truck weight to the rear but I have read countless stories of adding these levelers but not this kind of issue. I need some input I am lost as to where to start to correct this if at all possible.

Ford replaced a tire on my Tremor because it had 60+ pounds of roadforce. Contact where you bought the tires from

Yeah I have contacted the website I bought them from. They are slow to answer but I will get a call on Sunday from them per another person I talked to. The shop told me its the 2 rear tires only hoping this get me to a solution. Honestly the more I look into this I notice one spec on these tires is they weight 56 lbs each which is much higher than other brands the closest was 42 lbs and others were 35 lbs. I imagine a light duty truck doesn't need a heavy tire. I'm afraid I just bought a tire more for heavy duty trucks. Ugh hope I can exchange them.

I have the ridge grappler 285/75/17, the last tires were the same but /70/, have no problems with this set at all, I am over 100mph at least twice a week, off road almost every day and have no issues, maybe take it to another tire shop, the first shop that I kept having tire problems with was Mr.Tire in Bigflats, NY the next shop the guys were really good before putting it on the rack they told me what was wrong and they were right so shout out to BigETire in Binghamton, NY truck now feels awesome rides and drives like it should

Can someone please 'splain me what is ment by "roadforce" ???????
In all my oldie years, have never heard that phrase before termed with tires !!!
And how can a tire rolling on a surface, as it is rolling, be "excessive" ?????

Every so often you can get a tire that is out of round (noted by when on a balancer) you can visually see the tire (high spot) as it rotates.
That high spot is also a heavy spot on the tire and this spot will be stiffer than the rest of the tire, so this is what you feel (road force) of the tire flexing in the variation in sidewall stiffness.
By rotating the tire (on the rim) sometimes will help in bringing down the weights required to get it balanced but also sometimes it is near impossible to get them to balance out.
As the tire did not Cure properly

This is more noted in truck tires , heavier and more rubber.
So I would recommend replacing the tires in question.
When I was in the field we would shave them to help true them out, but honestly it was not always a better solution over just replacing the tire.
As you still had higher weights on that weel vs a new replacement tire.

This is my 33rd year in the tire business. All tires have a "heavy spot" usually found where the steel cords meet each other in the tire. (You can typically find this because there is a slight indent in the sidewall of the tire when aired up and is indented because it is stiffer there) The manufacturer will mark a yellow or red dot opposite of the heavy spot and that is to be lined up with the valve stem. Ideally, when you install the stem which is heavier than the little bit of aluminum removed to create the hole you offset those two heavy spots. The balancing machine asks for the correct amount of weight to offset whatever difference there might be. Occasionally you will mount a tire /wheel combo, and it will call for zero weight. This is best case scenario, and the tire and wheel are matched up perfectly. When you road force a tire/wheel assembly the machine is measuring the exact place where the 2 "heavy spots" are and will tell you where to spin the tire in relation to the wheel for those areas to be exactly opposite one another. The other issue typically found when installing aftermarket tires/wheels is the tires need to be aired up to a higher air pressure then aired back down to zero then re-aired again.

What this does is when you initially air the tire, the beads contact the wheel at an angle and don't always sit square in the wheel. When you let the air back out, relax the beads and re-air the tire they will actually square up into the wheel and the assembly typically balances smoother.

Well I finally got it worked out. The original mechanic shop was not a full fledged tire shop and must not have know what they were doing or the tires were truly crap. Regardless I returned the Hankook tires and got BFGoodwrich KO3's and I love them and it rides smooth now. BTW I ended up going to Discount Tire. I was leery but I was surprised they were knowledgeable (rightfully) and had amazing service.
Lesson learned: NEVER buy tires from a website not related to an actual tire installer.
