Zero Labs converted an on Bronco in 24 hours. Pretty cool and I'd drive the heck outta something like that.

Optional 600HP dual motor, 200+ mile range, level 3 DC fast charging

Yeah, someone has a drop in electric motor that's a direct fit for a small block v8. You just need a place to store the batteries.

I need about a 400 mile range for anything to be a daily driver for me, either that or a larger garage to keep a spare gas vehicle. I suppose the few times a month I need that range I could rent something, but that defeats the purpose of spending butt loads of money on an electric vehicle.

Magna Motors. Looks sweet

Just out of curiosity, do you really drive 400 miles daily? That's 100k miles a year at 5 days a week.

Man I have some lightning buddies that will be crushed it doesn't have a supercharged V8. Man their trucks sound good.
Totally agree! I would like to see the 7.3 Godzilla motor in a street performance F150.

You can order a complete roller frame for a vintage Mustang with your choice of Ford engine and transmission. When they start offering that for older cars, and affordable, people will start to switch. Imagine a 500+hp AWD 66 Mustang? Granted, it won't sound as good but they can even add speakers to fake it.
Revology... complete roller frame? complete reproduction that looks killer, and priced accordingly. I wonder if they could do an electric version.

112KW hour capacity in 1800lbs battery. Mach-E biggest battery is 88kw good for about 300 miles range.

I'm gonna guess 375 range for the new electric F150. 400 seems pretty tough unless they managed some further efficiency compared to Mach-E energy usage.

112kw might be tough to re-charge fully on a Level 2 home charger overnight. I'm predicting 6-8 hour charge depending upon how full battery is.

according to my favorite ford engineer, the Rivian/Ford deal is to be for a Lincoln SUV.

To go off road, I would want a solar roof or bedcover , just in case. And of course plenty of Monolith charging stations are installed through out Moab........ Or maybe Rotopax will come up with something.

Hope the F-150 can do tank turns

Only issue with a solar roof is they don’t have the energy density to charge an electric vehicle in a meaningful way even to get back to civilization. The best thing you could do with a solar panel in that situation is charge :LOL:your phone and call a tow.

Personally I would be more interested in PHEV for an off-road vehicle even if the combustion engine is pretty weak. I sort of imagine the ultimate hybrid electric setup being something like a small turbo 3 cylinder that can drive the vehicle even at highway speeds if necessary, and a something like 100-200 miles of powerful full electric range for commuting and towing. That would fully eliminate range anxiety and allow you to have reliable transportation if the grid went down for days or weeks.

The only problem with the PHEV setup described would be if you were towing something heavy and the truck switched over to the small engine. You might struggle in that case.

But with an EV, you can install your own "fuel pump" at your house and not spend anytime at a station. There's also lots of places with free charging. The electric company near me installed 6 free solar charging stations.

Until I want to go on a 2400 Mile trip ... and have to stop every 300 miles or less cause I'm towing a trailer. to "fill up" and that takes what, like 2-3 hours to be able to go another 300 miles max.

I could see the big urgency to "Save the planet" ... but shouldn't it start with the global polluters ... China, India ... etc. Just saying.

Before you folks go out and buy electric vehicles checkout the youtube video of the guy that drove a Mustang Mach E over the Rock Mts to LA. He's pro electric car but felt it had a way to conservative charging curve. Charging is a pain and it's most efficient to only charge to 80%. The plus side it does tell you where the charging stations are.

Guys. This truck isn’t for “road trips.” It’s for work trucks and fleet trucks.

the selling price, combined with the crazy low cost of ownership/maintenance is going to have these things selling like crazy to fleet operators.

we’ve got another 5-10 years for battery and charging advancements to get to where they need to be for road trip driving. But it won’t be too long before you can stop at a station and recharge your car in 15-20 mins.

And this is a perfect type of vehicle for people who just need a truck for home improvement projects, yard work, taking the boat to the lake, going on local weekend camping trips, helping their friend move across town, etc.

Is it ready for towing a 7,000lb travel trailer across the country over the mountains? No, but I never expected it to be. But this is just the first iteration of this truck. And if this is where Ford is starting, then think about what it'll be like in 5 years with Gen15, and then 5 years after that with Gen16. Especially with how much Ford invests in the F-series platform. This is an amazing first step into useful electric trucks for the "every man".

Have any of you seen the movie Dilemma? If not watch it. I wish these new EVs would have a system like the EV Dodge Challenger they build. Spoiler: it has an exterior audio system to make sound like a V8. It would be awesome to see it happen in the real world.
BMW I8 does this as well.

F150 Live Reveal

Very cool! Ford knows how to build commercials, too! How long before there will be a "Ranger Lightning Live Reveal"? If they don't hurry up, I may have to upgrade to the 150 after all! Time to clean out the garage?
