I agree with your thinking, but I've been in the world long enough to know there are a lot of stupid people who won't think that through.

Around 1998 there was a huge ice storm in the Northeast, I was near the Canadian border in NY. No power for something like 9 days, and being fairly rural no power meant no water. We cleared the roads enough to drive my Ranger down to a local bottler and pick up a few dozen gallons of water. We split it with our neighbor, whose wife took a flippin bath with it the next day. I did not offer to help them again.
I remember that storm. I was in Western NY. Rural as well. We melted ice cubes in pots on the wood stove for water.

I was here without power in West Texas for 4 days with the same scenario with no power and heat, or water. It was much worse here in Texas because they don’t have the infrastructure to deal with such weather. Back in NY we at least had water, and heat. I guess that’s what ya get when you build and live in the desert lol.

The chassis is shared with Rivian, since Ford invested $500 million into this company for their skateboard chassis. If its anything similar to the power and torque of the Rivian, I see my retirement vehicle!!

This new electric f150 is all Ford tech. No input from Rivian. It's rumored there may be electric off-roader using the Rivian tech investment

I think the key for these legacy auto makers to drive EV adoption to the masses, is to build vehicles that blend in and are feel no different than gas powered version. It's hard to even tell which one of these trucks in the EV.

I think they'll sell like crazy. Hopefully Ford provides breakdown numbers of how many they sell

I see you are also in the tech world, but I am not as enthusiastic about the EV revolution. The masses aren't onboard here in the US like they are in nanny state countries around the world.

But with an EV, you can install your own "fuel pump" at your house and not spend anytime at a station. There's also lots of places with free charging. The electric company near me installed 6 free solar charging stations.

You can order a complete roller frame for a vintage Mustang with your choice of Ford engine and transmission. When they start offering that for older cars, and affordable, people will start to switch. Imagine a 500+hp AWD 66 Mustang? Granted, it won't sound as good but they can even add speakers to fake it.

Zero Labs converted an on Bronco in 24 hours. Pretty cool and I'd drive the heck outta something like that.
