A 92 Ranger is a sports-car? Did you have a 79 Eldorado and call it a super-car?

Actually Ford had an advertising campaign touting the '92 Ranger as " a sportscar with a big trunk". That's no hyperbole when compared to the 5G!
With minor mods it did handle better than nearly any contemporary midsized rear drive car on the market.
I would never get in an Eldorado without a good pair of shoes and a cell phone!

So I was going through You Tube and found this video on the small Ecoboost engines. it talks about why coolant can and has gotten into cylinders 2 or 3>
Does our version of the 2.3 have this same design flaw? Or has anyone heard of this happening in the Ranger?

Not sure if you're aware but there's a bulletin about water getting to the valve cover From the hood. The fix for it is the decorative cover for the valve cover.

I researched the engine block design many months ago and never could tell for certain if the engine block with that coolant passage design between the cylinders was used in the Ranger.

My understanding is that the Ranger has the newer/better design and shouldn't be affected by this issue.

Yep, this. I found the same thing after looking into it for a while. Shouldn't be a problem we have to worry about.

Haven't heard about it in any of the 2.3 ecoboost but we do keep a close eye on my dad's 2.0 Fusion.

My 2017 2.0 Fusion died from a coolant leak - had about 60K miles on it. Definitely keep a close eye on it! There is no fix (to my knowledge) unless you get a rebuilt motor from Ford.

I found a pic of Ford showing off the Ranger block/turbo at a show - trying to find it again. Head was off of it. You could see the cross drilled stuff between cylinders. So they showed up with the good design from the start vs a later update for the Rangers 2.3.

Then someone on the assembly line cross drilled right into a fuel line and caused a 6k page thread about fuel in the oil instead of coolant in 2 or 3 (or both).

You can see liquid inside the cylinder and coolant dropped that much after they swapped out a spark plug saying it was just a spark plug that was broken

Unless there is a coolant passage that is running right by that spark plug(BTW there isn't) then I can promise you that is not coolant.

Also thanks to the surge tank design it is actually normal for the level to lower a little like that when the engine is warmed up. Don't ask me why it does that. It just does

I think the oldish 2.3 Mustang Ecoboost block coolant design is more like the little ones with the top cut passage that makes a weak point. Ours is more like the RS with the cross drilled. My theory on that is towing on the why they went with the better design that isn't as prone to leaks. I doubt they factored leaks in when they made that call but they did and I am glad. Ironically the RS was blowing headgaskets but because of the wrong gasket...... we have that issue.
